MY SON AND I PURCHASED A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 2017 HONDA CIVIC SEDAN ON DEC 3RD FROM HONDA OF LISLE IL. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED WITH 22,100 MILES. MY SON WAS DRIVING ON DEC 10TH AND STOPPED FOR GAS FOR THE FIRST TIME. HE GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND STARTED IT UP. HE NOTICED THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HE IMMEDIATELY CAM HOME AND CALLED FOR AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE NEXT DAY TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AT THE DEALER. AS HE WAS DRIVING TO THE DEALER HE GOT ABOUT 1 MILE DOWN THE ROAD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN BLACK SMOKE STARTED POURING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE CAR FROZE UP AND IMMEDIATELY BURST INTO FLAMES. THANKFULLY IT HAPPENED ON A SIDE STREET AS HE WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A LAW THAT THEY NEED TO TAKE IT BACK WITHIN 15 DAYS OR LESS THAN 500 MILES, THEY ESSENTIALLY TOLD ME IT WASN'T THEIR PROBLEM AND I NEEDED TO GET MY INSURANCE INVOLVED. A FIRE INSPECTOR HIRED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY LOOKED AT THE TOTALED VEHICLE AND SUSPECTED THE FIRE STARTED NEAR THE BATTERY. MY INSURANCE COMPANY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A FIRE ENGINEER INSPECT IT AT A COST OF $5,000 THEREFORE THEY WILL NOT PURSUE FURTHER. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED TO A CERTIFIED CAR WITH 22K MILES. FULL VIDEO HTTPS://YOUTU.BE/TTSVY7ZGMW8

HE ALSO EXPLAINED THAT IT IS ILLEGAL TO RECOMMEND FLUID CHANGE OR MAINTENANCE OF CERTAIN THINGS WITHOUT NO REASON AND EFFECTIVELY THE PAPER THAN THE DEALER GAVE ME HAS NO REASON WHY THEY WANTED TO SELL ALL THAT TO MY WIFE. *TR

MY CAR HAS ALREADY HAD FUEL RAIL AND INJECTORS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY FOR MISFIRING ISSUES AND MY CAR HAS SHUT OFF ON ME MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY 50 MPH ROADS AND HAD TO COAST INTO A PARKING LOT. EVERY HONDA DEALER I'VE BROUGHT IT TO SAYS THIS IS NORMAL AND WILL NOT ADMIT THAT MY OIL IS DILUTED. BUT I HEARD THEM SAYING HOW BAD THE OIL SMELL OF GAS

FUEL (GASOLINE) IS SEEPING INTO THE MOTOR OIL CAUSING A OVERFILL MARK ON OIL DIPSTICK AND STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE WHEN CAR IS STARTED. OIL VISCOSITY SEEMS TO BE "THINNER" AFTER 2000 + MILES OF DRIVING.

FUEL IS MIXING WITH OIL. OIL DIPSTICK READS HIGHER WHEN CHECKED. ENGINE PERFORMANCE IS SLUGGISH. WHEN CHECKING OIL, THERE IS A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL. AS A RESULT, OIL IS SIGNIFICANTLY THINNER WHEN CHECKED.
