I am writing to file a complaint regarding a serious issue with my Honda vehicle involving the turbocharger system. The turbocharger appears to be failing, causing a significant reduction in vehicle speed and performance while driving. During operation, the vehicle suddenly loses power and acceleration, making it difficult and potentially unsafe to maintain normal traffic speeds. At the same time, multiple warning lights illuminate on the dashboard, indicating possible engine and system malfunctions. This issue creates a serious safety concern for both myself and other drivers, as the vehicle may unexpectedly slow down while traveling on highways or busy roadways. The condition has negatively impacted the reliability and dependability of my vehicle. I am requesting that Honda investigate this matter promptly and provide assistance in diagnosing and correcting the issue. If this problem is related to a known defect, recall, service bulletin, or warranty extension, I would appreciate being informed immediately.

At one point the driver assist turned off and the lights were orange but then it went away too. It keeps happening when I'm parking. The steering wheel gets stiff and the warning comes on and goes away. There were no lights or warnings prior, just started happening randomly. This is recent and I have not yet got it inspected but it is available for inspection.

This car has well known issues with the infotainment system probably since it came out and nothing has been fixed. There are constant ghost touches/glitching, especially when it gets hotter outside. Now after owning it for a year, Apple CarPlay freaks out. I’ll be listening to music and then suddenly the screen goes black. The buttons still work on the blacked out screen but nothing will pop back up. I had my dealership take a look and this is an ongoing issue with Honda. I’ve seen car forums talk about the same thing for years and nothing is being resolved permanently. This can be a distraction safety hazard. My other issue is the lane keep assist. It doesn’t detect lanes very well, especially if it’s faded or has sealed cracks. I could be driving the freeway speed limit and then the car suddenly brakes hard. I’m lucky no one was directly behind me when these incidents have happened or else I would’ve been rear-ended. Safety hazard for both complaints.

No cars or obstacles. I took it into the dealership the next day. They tested it and found nothing wrong. About a month later it happended again while driving on the highway with no cars or obsticals in front me. changing lanes and the car braked for a period of 1 second. It happened again about 10 minutes later but this time braked for 2 seconds and if someone was behind me, it may have casued an accident. Then a week later on the highway, it happened a third time taking an offramp. I took it to the dealership that day and they kept it overnight and found nothing wrong the next day. I am escalting it to the dealership management.

On February 21, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation (PE22003) to assess reports of inadvertent activation of the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), an automatic emergency braking (AEB) system, in model year 2017-2019 Honda CR-V and 2018-2019 Honda Accord vehicles.  The reports allege that activation of the AEB system occurs while driving with no apparent obstruction in the vehicle's forward path, resulting in sudden vehicle deceleration. Honda indicated that they were aware of a total of X,XXX reports that may relate to the alleged defect. Honda provided analysis of the alleged defect and alleges that some customers possibly had an inadequate understanding of the CMBS and its limitations.  However, many consumer complaints allege that Honda dealerships were unable to reproduce the condition or state that they were informed that this is considered normal CMBS operation. To date, ODI has received a total of 1,294 consumer complaints of inadvertent activation of CMBS in 2017-2022 Honda CR-V and 2018-2022 Honda Accord vehicles. A total of 31 complaints alleged a crash and 50 alleged an injury.  The Total column in the Failure Report Summary removes duplicate reports and shows the total number of reports with unique VINs from all Manufacturer, ODI, and EWR data sources.  In some cases, there were multiple reports associated with a particular vehicle in which recurring failures were alleged.  In total, there were X,XXX reports, 93 injury incidents and 47 crashes involving vehicles with unique VINs that may relate to the alleged defect. PE22-003 has been upgraded to an Engineering Analysis to further assess the scope, frequency, and potential safety related consequences of the inadvertent AEB activations. The scope has been expanded to include assessment of model year 2020-2022 Honda CR-V and Accord vehicles. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
