Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): [XXX] Vehicle Mileage: 29,200 miles Involved Honda Dealership: McGrath Honda, St. Charles, IL Details of Your Inquiry: I am seeking assistance regarding an ongoing issue with my 2023 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid. The first time I noticed this issue was in the summer of 2024, when I experienced a similar set of alerts while driving in a parking lot. At the time, I didn't think much of it, as the vehicle seemed to return to normal shortly afterward. However, on [XXX], the problem occurred again, but this time it was more serious. While driving in a subdivision in Bolingbrook, IL, at approximately 25-30 MPH around 8:10 PM, my vehicle malfunctioned and displayed numerous system alerts, including: Adaptive cruise control system problem, Collision mitigation braking system problem, Road departure mitigation system problem, Electric power steering system problem, Electric parking brake system problem, Tire pressure monitor system problem, Brake system problem, Brake hold system problem. Additionally, my Honda app sent a warning stating, “Brake system problem, drive with caution.” During this time, the vehicle experienced a significant loss of power, with no braking or acceleration available. I was unable to use the brake pedal or accelerate, which caused immediate safety concerns. Luckily, I was in a subdivision and not on a busier road like Weber Rd. or I-55, as this could have resulted in a dangerous accident. I was able to coast the vehicle to a stop at the side of the road, where I waited for a few minutes. I then cycled the vehicle off, waited a few more minutes, and turned it back on. The vehicle started, and I was able to drive back home. A video was recorded showing the alerts on the dashboard. I brought my vehicle to McGrath Honda for diagnostics on March 28, 2025. The dealership found multiple lost communication codes from various subsystems, but they were unable to replicate the issue. The engine completely stopped while driving on two different occasions, once on I10 freeway and on a busy surface street. Hard to pinpoint the failure either mechanical or electrical. Was inspected by two different Honda dealerships and both found no error messages. On the freeway was extremely dangerous we were lucky to safely get to the shoulder and call AAA. On the most occurrence the engine shut off and caused a traffic jam but after a short time was able to restart with no damage only many angry drivers showing their irritation. There was no prior messages or other symptoms that was evident prior to these two occurrences. Had a safety recall performed yesterday, to inspect high pressure fuel pump and no fault was found. This is definitely a safety related defect and if it happens again i don't know if luck will be with me a third time.

While driving at speeds between 3-70 MPH, the vehicle will intermittently display multiple warning lamps along with having an immediate loss of motive power (go into LIMP mode). When this occurs, the car must be coasted over to the side of the road & restarted typically twice to clear all of the dash alerts. Having a car go into LIMP mode while driving on city streets, highways or interstates puts our family in danger as well as the safety of others on the road near us. This issue has reproduced itself over a dozen times for our family & the service department has not been able to reproduce/confirm when brought in for repair. The service team on the 1st service date found multiple codes for loss of communications. They cleared the codes, found no permanent codes, performed a hard reset on the system & sent the car home. The 2nd service call again showed multiple codes for loss of communications. They were not able to reproduce the issue & sent the car home. The 3rd service call displayed the same codes as before. They updated the ICM software & sent the car home. The 4th service call displayed the same codes. The service team attempted to reproduce the issue by driving the vehicle for ~250 miles unsuccessfully & wanted to send the car home. We disagreed & they mentioned we should open a case with Honda which we did. Several days later Honda & the service team replaced the integrated control unit. It will take much time & many miles before we can be certain the ICM replacement did or did not resolve the issue. The issue 1st occurred near 6,200 in mileage and roughly 4 months after purchase. The car now has over 27,000 miles. As far as warning lamps during an event, multiple pop up that are images/icons as well as text of issues you can scroll through. Battery lamp, vehicle stability assist reduced traction and handling, brake system problem brake performance may be reduced, electric power steering system problem steering assist reduced, etc.

came to stop sign. As I turned the corner, engine died in the intersection, all warning lights and dashboard warnings came on. I was dead in the intersection. I had to put car into park, turn the car off, turn car back on and then I could start the car and move out of the intersection to the side of the road. All warning lights and dashboard warnings were on. I have pic of warnings from last event (of 4). able to drive car, everything was normal except brake warnings was on the whole trip (30 min) but brakes worked fine. Parked car for 2 hours and when I came out, all warnings were NOT displayed. This has happened at about the following dates and mileage on the car BETWEEN events. Car purchased new 2/25/2023. First event was about 7/16/2023 at about 2994 miles. Second event was about 2/20/2024 at about 4978 miles since first event (7972 total miles). Third event was about 6/20/2024 at about 3885 miles since 2nd event (11857 total miles). Fourth event was on 11/9/2024 at exactly 3970 miles since 3rd event (15827 total miles. Each time, I have taken it into a dealer. They did a software update after 3rd event and after 4th event, replaced ICM module (ignition control module). Honda factory person worked with dealership after 3rd and 4th event. To date, we do not have any evidence that replacing the ICM has fixed the problem but also no evidence it has not fixed the problem as the events seem to happen every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. I have lots of documentation I have sent to Honda and have a case number with them (13997837). I have asked Honda to replace the car. They started the process but just this week in a call, they said they were ending that process for now. Not sure if I was able to ADD copies of my dealership invoices, my own correspondence with Honda. If they are not on this document, call me and I will send them to you or email them to you.

I am a [XXX]. I contacted Honda customer service to escalate my situation. I have not yet received help from the Winston-Salem Honda dealer as of 9:00 a.m. on 10/18/24. I have complained to the Department of Justice's consumer protection division. I have sent documentation. I reached out on Facebook. I was last contacted by Dallas, even though Mike's name is on my last paperwork. This is suspicious. My rubber on my door has been replaced. My seatbelt was missing a bolt. Tires with regular, correct maintenance from the dealer should last 30,000 miles. Because Honda of Winston-Salem did not follow the schedule, after bringing my car to them many times, I have to replace my four tires at under 22,000 miles. I have lost 30% of my tires' lifespan unnecessarily due to a lack of regular balancing and rotation, despite multiple visits to Honda of Winston-Salem. My last recall letter arrived over 60 days ago. My seatbelt, CVT transmission, and engine have recalls. My window tint has faded, my door is failing, my brakes have issues, there are electrical issues, and the ceiling is sagging. My Hondalink is incorrect. I asked for help with car features and I paid $3000 up front extended warranty, but they refused to assist. RQ24006 · Front Seat Belt Assemblies May Be Missing The Rivet That Secures The Quick Connector And Wire Plate

Opened Apr 4, 2024 · Closed Mar 26, 2025

Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Seat Belts; Seat Belts:front

On April 4, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) opened RQ24006 to investigate American Honda Motor Co.’s (Honda’s) proposed remedy for recall 23V-782 as well as scope of the vehicles involved. Honda issued recall 23V-782 on November 21, 2023, which concerns certain model year (MY) 2023-2024 Honda Accord, Honda Accord Hybrid, and Honda HR-V vehicles. Recall 23V-782 states that the driver and front passenger seat belt pretensioner assemblies may have been manufactured without a rivet that secures the pretensioner quick connector and wire plate. Recall documentation states that seat belt pretensioner assemblies that are missing the rivet will not properly restrain the occupant in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of injury.Subject defective seat belt assemblies are installed as original equipment for both the driver and front passenger positions for the HR-V, but only for the driver position for the Accord and Accord Hybrid. The recall remedy for 23V-782 instructs the technician to inspect both front seat belt pretensioner assemblies and, if necessary, replace them. The inspection procedure requires the technician to utilize a pull force gauge to determine whether the subject component is missing the subject rivet and requires replacement. Parts requiring replacement are determined by whether the pretensioner quick connector separates from the pretensioner assembly while the technician is pulling on the seat belt. If no separation occurs, then the part is determined to be not defective and not require replacement. There have been no reports alleging a failure of seat belt pretensioner assemblies after the inspect and replace remedy for recall 23V-782 was performed. Additionally, no comparable failures have been observed in field data for similar vehicles outside of the scope of the recall. As of the 4th quarter of 2024, the recall completion rate is at approximately 84% of the total recalled population. In view of the lack of failures after the remedy for recall 23V-782 was performed, and the lack of failures in similar vehicles outside of the scope of the recall, ODI is closing this Recall Query (RQ). The Agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances.
