While in tow, our almost new camper collapsed with the axel pulling away from the frame & tires pushing through the floor into the interior. Roadside assistance had it hauled to a RV repair shop who told us we were lucky to be alive & this unit did not belong on the road as the frame wasn’t strong enough to support the weight. Our insurance’s independent claims adjuster also found it was clear no impact to the unit or fault of ours & that there was failure of the frame support to bridge the weight. The frame was broken in multiple places centering around the mounting points for the axel, causing heavy damage to both the interior & body structure making it unrepairable or towable. Suggesting hauling to factory to find out why failure occurred. After months of difficulty, the manufacturer finally admitted fault was not ours, saying they received faulty aluminum from their vender & a new welder didn’t know the difference. Without our agreement, they repaired our unit by lifting the outer skin & put it back over a new heftier frame & higher axel (old sat very low), returning to our dealer almost a year later & assuring ours was the only one like this, that all future HH would have heftier frames, but returned her needing much repair for leaking, blinkers backwards & wiring issues, & the gas lines not connected, once again giving us a dangerous unit. No written warranty was given & they refuse to pay our dealer for the new repairs. I recently joined a FB HH group & found owners with structure issues, floor failings, & a cracked frame who is now on a list waiting repairs, as are others. Holiday House has finally issued a written warranty, different from what we were told. They instructed others privately, that since they don’t know which units have faulty frames, they can’t do a recall, but owners should look under the frames to see if theirs looks like there are issues. Single axel 18R with possible issues are obvious as they sit low to the ground & less than 25 issued.

Holiday House, LLC (Holiday House) is recalling certain 2019-2021 27RQ, 24TB, and 18RB travel trailers, equipped with Winntec model 6020 two-stage propane regulators. The regulator may fail, causing an increase in propane pressure.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Increased propane pressure can enlarge the flames in gas appliances, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the regulator and test the propane system for leaks, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 18, 2022. Owners may contact Holiday House customer service at 574-206-0016.

On April 17, 2023, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened a Preliminary Evaluation, PE23007, to investigate reports of frame sagging and/or floor collapse, including while in transit, in MY2019-2021 Holiday House, LLC (Holiday House) trailer models 18RB, 24TB, and 27RQ. On April 26, 2023, ODI sent an Information Request (IR) letter to Holiday House.In June 2023, Holiday House submitted an incomplete response to ODI, which only provided very limited build and purchaser information.To date, ODI has received five owner complaints with one trailer showing evidence of the frame collapsing and dragging while in transit.Furthermore, one of the owner complaints included allegations of another 12 failed or failing Holiday House trailers. In October 2023, the owner of Holiday House informed ODI that the company had been closed.Since that time, the owner of Holiday House has not responded to ODI's attempts to obtain further information.According to State of Indiana records, Holiday House was administratively dissolved and inactive as of November 5, 2024. Under these circumstances, ODI is closing this investigation.However, based on available information about the concerns addressed by this investigation, owners of the involved models should have their trailers professionally inspected to verify that the floor and its supporting frame is not sagging and that the floor is strong enough for continued safe use.Furthermore, these vehicles may need additional repairs to resolve safety issues reported under two previous recalls, 22V-067 and 22V-882. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does or does not exist in these or any other Holiday House trailers.Additionally, the Agency notes that the Vehicle Safety Act states: “A manufacturer’s filing of a petition in bankruptcy under chapter 7 or chapter 11 of title 11 does not negate the manufacturer’s duty to comply with section 30112 or sections 30115 through 30120 of this title,” which include the recall provisions of the Act.The Agency reserves the right to take further action as warranted.
