HEIL IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006-2009 RAPID RAIL AND CP PYTHON BODIES GARBAGE TRUCKS WITH BOLT-ON REAR HINGE ASSEMBLIES. AFFECTED BODIES ARE THOSE WHICH HAVE A BOLT ON REAR HINGE ASSEMBLY BUT DO NOT HAVE STRUCTURAL GUSSETS TO REINFORCE THE Z-PLATE. CRACKING CAN OCCUR IN THE Z-PLATE AREA AND A FAILURE CAN RESULT WHEN THE BODY IS IN THE RAISED POSITION DURING WASTE UNLOADING PROCEDURES.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THE BODY CAN BECOME UNSTABLE WHEN RAISED DURING DUMPING OPERATIONS AND CAUSE THE TRUCK TO ROLL OVER ON ITS SIDE INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURIES.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND INSTALL THE BOLT ON HINGE KIT FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 10, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HEIL AT 866-275-4345.
