I NOTICED ONLINE, THAT THE HAULMARK SNOWMOBILE TRAILERS THAT WERE BUILT AND SOLD DURING 2006, HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE DEXTER AXLES SUPPLIED WITH THEM. THIS IS A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE LACK OF RESPONSE TO A RECALL. I NOTICED ONLINE, THAT THE HAULMARK SNOWMOBILE TRAILERS THAT WERE BUILT AND SOLD DURING 2006, HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE DEXTER AXLES SUPPLIED WITH THEM. I PURCHASED A 2006, 19 FOOT, HAULMARK SNOWMOBILE TRAILER ON 3-31-2006. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM DEXTER AXLE ABOUT THIS, AND HAVE TRIED AT LEAST 2 DIFFERENT TIMES CALLING THE DEXTER AXLE RECALL LINE 1-800-400-2164. THERE IS NO ONE TO TALK TO, ONLY A RECORDING TO LEAVE NAME & NUMBER, SO I DID SO. AFTER 3 WEEKS TIME, THERE HAS STILL BEEN NO RETURN CALL, OR ANSWER TO MY INQUIRY ABOUT THIS! I'M VERY WORRIED THAT THERE WILL BE SOME SORT OF PROBLEM WITH THIS TRAILER ON THE HIGHWAY. HAULMARK WAS ALSO CONTACTED, BUT WAS RELUCTANT TO HELP IN ANY WAY! WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS TOTAL DISREGARD FOR SAFETY!! *TR

ON CERTAIN TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH DEXTER AXLES, THE DISC BRAKE CALIPER MOUNTING BOLTS MAY STRIP. INSUFFICIENT CLAMP LOAD BETWEEN CALIPER AND YOKE CAN CAUSE THE CALIPER TO DISASSEMBLE AND ADVERSELY AFFECT THE TRAILERS BRAKING SYSTEM.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: LOSS OF BRAKING CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEXTER HAS MODIFIED THE REMEDY FOR THESE VEHICLES (PLEASE SEE 06E029). A NEW LARGER CALIPER MOUNTING NUT WILL BE INSTALLED. FOR MORE INFORMATION YOU MAY CONTACT DEXTER AXLE AT 1-800-400-2164 OR HAULMARK AT 1-574-825-5867.
