MANUFACTURER'S CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED US THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AT DEALERSHIP FOR A MINIMUM OF 12 WEEKS AFTER DEALER SUBMITS THE LIST OF PARTS NEEDED TO REMEDY THE RECALL. CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON STATED IF I NEED A VEHICLE TO TAKE MY CHANCES AND DRIVE IT AT MY OWN RISK, OR WAIT UNTIL PARTS ARE MADE AVAILABLE. 11 23 2005 PARTS STILL NOT AVAILABLE AT DEALERSHIP. STILL NO TRANSPORTATION MADE AVAILABLE YET. *JB
ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE THROTTLE CABLES COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE TUNNEL PORTION OF THE FUEL TANK.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IN THIS CONDITION, THE CABLES COULD EVENTUALLY WEAR THROUGH THE TANK, CAUSING A FUEL LEAK. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE CABLE AND TANK, REPOSITION THE CABLE AND, IF NECESSARY, REPAIR OR REPLACE THE TANK AND/OR CABLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 31, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HARLEY-DAVIDSON AT 1-414-343-4056.
