DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LEFT SIDE OF THE MOTORCYCLE'S WINDSHIELD POPPED LOOSE WHILE BEING TOWED AT 65 MPH. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED ON A CLEAR, DRY ROAD SURFACE. THE CLIMATE WAS SUNNY. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE MOTORCYCLE AND NOTICED THE WELL NUT CAME OUT OF THE HOLE WHERE THE WELL NUT WAS SECURED TO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WELL NUT HOLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN CIRCULAR, INSTEAD IT WAS OBLONG. TWO DEALERSHIPS WERE CONTACTED AND DETERMINED THAT THE FARING WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT DENIED IN REPAIRING THE DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD POPPED LOOSE ONE YEAR BEFORE THE INCIDENT, BUT WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS LOCATED NEAR THE INCIDENT.
