93V128000 · Electrical SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V Battery:cables

Aug 2, 1993

THE BATTERY CABLES WERE LOCATED EITHER ADJACENT TO OR TOUCHING THE TURBOCHARGER OF THE ENGINE. HIGH TEMPERATURES OF THE TURBOCHARGER CAN MELT THE CABLE INSULATION, CAUSING AN ELECTRICAL SHORT CIRCUIT.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: ELECTRICAL SHORT CIRCUITS CAN CREATE SUFFICIENT HEAT TOBURN SURROUNDING MATERIALS, RESULTING IN AN UNDERHOOD FIRE.

Remedy: GRUMMAN OLSON WILL SUPPLY A REPAIR KIT AND INSTRUCTIONS TO REROUTE AND CLAMP THE BATTERY CABLES AWAY FROM THE ENGINE SUPERCHARGER.
