The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that while driving 5 MPH, the vehicle lost brake and power steering functionality, and there was smoke coming from underneath the hood. The contact stated that power steering fluid was leaking onto the engine. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the power steering pump had seized, the belt and hoses had failed, and the parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,832.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and approaching a stop, the contact simultaneously depressed the brake pedal and accelerator pedal, causing the vehicle to move forward and to stop simultaneously. The contact stated that the pedals were significantly close to each other. The contact’s foot was sliding off the pedals. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, and the contact requested for an adjustment of the pedals. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 10.

Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Driving with underinflated tires can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect, update the engine control module (ECM) software, apply a tire label overlay, inflate tires to the correct pressure, and perform a tire pressure monitor system (TPMS) re-learn process as necessary, free of charge. The tailgate's electronic gate-release switch may short circuit due to water intrusion, which can result in the tailgate inadvertently unlatching while the vehicle is in Park.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An unlatched tailgate may open and result in a loss of unsecured cargo, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Owners are advised to check that the tailgate is closed and latched before driving. Dealers will replace the exterior touchpad switch assemblies, free of charge.
