After numerous attempts getting GM to finally look at why my vehicle because after the L87 engine swap, which failed after the Pico test and oil, oil filter, and oil cap change my truck has been dangerous to drive. It falls on its face when taking off or driving. It acts as if something is holding the truck back. It takes more throttle to get it moving. Then in traffic while moving it randomly lunges forward very quickly as if I have the gas pedal to the floor. I came very close to rear ending a Deer Park police vehicle. They told me to get my own alternate transportation and they would then look at it. I had to go out and get a rental car. I had no choice. I explained due to my HIGH medical bills following a cancer diagnosis, I could not afford a rental and my appointments. They basically told me come see them when i can make my arrangements. So, i rented a car, took the truck in, four days later i was told that the problem was my ADAS camera. I told them it worked fine before yall had it 3 months waiting on an engine. They told me I would have to pay around 1000 dollars to have my truck repaired. Even though it was clearly something they did. I made arrangements to pay them. I picked up my truck. That evening I was happy. Well, the next morning while going to get coffee the problem returned. I took it back to the dealer. I was again told, go get another rental and leave it here. I have done that. Well, that week went by. I had to borrow money to get the rental for another week. So, i could make it to my cardiologist today. I have to get cardiac clearance before i begin surgery Oct. 1st. Between now and then, i have an appt with pain mgmt., A PET scan, and an Echo/Doppler for cardiac clearance. Surgery begins Oct. 1st. This has been making it very difficult to manage appts. with Gastrointerology, Cardiology, Oncology, Infusion services, Pain mgmt., Therapy with a Psychiatrist, My new Esophogealist (for surgery). And follow-ups and blood tests. This is ongoing.

The forward-facing camera module and related Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist. The system has failed repeatedly, with the camera replaced three previous times. On XXX, the vehicle performed unintended hard braking at approximately 70 mph on the interstate, after which Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist became inoperative. Similar hard-braking events followed by system failure also occurred approximately one month prior to the most recent previous failure. The dealership (Confidence Chevrolet Buick GMC in [XXX]) has confirmed the forward-facing camera and ADAS failures on multiple occasions. The camera module has been replaced three times (XXX). During the XXX repair, technicians documented Diagnostic Trouble Code U3000:49 (internal malfunction in the front view camera module), opened TAC case XXX, and performed radio programming per bulletin 25-NA-318. I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali (5.3L engine). This vehicle has exhibited a pattern of severe electrical, fuel system, and active safety sensor failures that pose a direct threat to occupant and public safety.At approximately 4,000 miles, the high-pressure fuel injectors suffered an early-stage mechanical failure requiring dealer repair.At approximately 24,000 miles, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic, un-warned total power shutdown while driving in the middle of active, fast-moving 5:00 PM rush-hour traffic on a 100-degree day in [XXX]. The vehicle completely stalled, causing a loss of standard driving capabilities and leaving the occupants stranded without air conditioning or cabin ventilation in an incredibly high-risk, live-traffic environment. The dealership attributed the failure to the fuel pump switch/control module.The vehicle's active safety framework is deeply compromised. The forward-facing front collision camera and its integrated crash-avoidance sensors have completely failed and required a minimum of three (3) separate repair interventions, yet the safety system remains broken and unreliable.The vehicle exhibits phantom electrical bugs. The MultiPro tailgate audio system consistently turns itself on while the vehicle is parked, locked, and closed, hijacking the driver's phone Bluetooth from inside the home. While driving down the road, the internal cabin radio will abruptly cut out and begin blasting audio through the exterior tailgate speakers, creating a severe driver distraction. The dealership has repeatedly dismissed these electrical safety anomalies as untraceable.3. Current Unsafe Conditions: Post-Replacement Active Safety Failures. The vehicle presently exhibits two distinct categories of active, ongoing, and dangerous safety failures, both of which were introduced as a direct result of the engine replacement performed by Monument Chevrolet: (a) Severe Drivability Failure. Between approximately 1,500 and 5,000 RPM, the engine repeatedly and without warning lunges forward, drops all power, and lunges again — cycling in this manner between three (3) and six (6) times before stabilizing. This behavior occurs across all gears and driving conditions, which creates a severe and unpredictable hazard particularly when merging into traffic or accelerating onto highways. This failure constitutes an immediate and ongoing risk to the safety of myself and other motorists. (b) Complete ADAS System Failure. The frontal crash response warning light is permanently illuminated on the instrument cluster, rendering the following federally relevant safety systems entirely non-functional: (i) Automatic Emergency Braking / Forward Collision Alert; (ii) Cruise Control; and (iii) Lane Change Assist / Lane Control System. All of these systems were fully operational and properly functioning before the vehicle was submitted for the engine swap. Their failure is an assembly defect introduced by Monument Chevrolet during the course of the repair and constitutes a warranty and safety defect for which General Motors, as the manufacturer and warrantor, bears full responsibility. Medical Hardship and Urgency. This vehicle is my sole personal transportation. It is essential for travel to active medical appointments and upcoming medical procedures. The ongoing failure of General Motors and its authorized service network to restore this vehicle to a safe and fully operable condition has created a serious hardship that directly affects my ability to access needed medical care. Yes, it was driven by a service department supervisor. He did experience the issues.

For the past 6 months I’ve had issues with my crash avoidance system, steer assist and lane departure warning. The crash indicator light would illuminate on my dash for no apparent reason. That would disable my crash warning system, steer assist and lane departure warning but, I could still adjust my distance for my brake warning indicator. The other problems that are not safety related is cruise control and automatic high beam lights will not function. I researched the Internet and found this is not an uncommon problem for this year model. The most common fix (if the windshield is not dirty) was remove the F 11 fuse, in the fuse panel beside passenger door for 10 seconds, that would allow the system to reboot. That worked for 3 months with more than 10 occurrences of the light illuminating on the dash. Now the crash indicator light is on continuously and will not reset by removing the fuse. The computer is up-to-date and all the settings in the infotainment system for the crash avoidance system are activated. Check numerous Internet websites, the cameras for this system is on backorder. So there must be a parent problem with the system. I was required to purchase 36 months of OnStar, I did not purchase a renewal agreement after the 36 month and this issue started soon after.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the driver's side seat vibrated, and the automatic high beam feature disengaged, and the lane change indicator became inoperable. The message " Crash Sensor System Inoperable" was displayed. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to temporarily disconnect the battery. The contact followed the instruction; however, the failure recurred a day later. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that there was a glitch in the crash sensor system. The dealer determined that the system needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired out-of-pocket. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the failure was a maintenance issue, and the repair was at the owner's expense. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.

A few weeks ago my adaptive cruise stopped working, as well as the automatic high beam system (not sure the technical name). As there was a warning light displayed, I brought it into the dealership to have them check it out. The technician jumped in really quick, made some changes within the control panel, and the light came off. As I drove out and tried to use the adaptive cruise control, it didn't work and I almost went into the back of a truck. That all being said, I brought it back into the dealer last week for them to diagnose the problem as a failed front windshield camera. I find it hard to believe that this camera can fail at 50k miles, and the repair with parts and labor costing approximately $1000. This is an advanced system designed to improve the driver experience and heavily marketed. Considering this is tied to safety in some capacity, shouldn't GM cover this repair? I quickly googled the issue and found others have had the same failure. The camera system combined with the control panel covers so many applications, I would be concerned about other issues with the truck. Not to mention the massive recall of my L87 engine and water pump failure that I have also dealt with. I appreciate you taking the time to read my rant. Not sure if this will do anything, but it would be nice to have some sort of relief from the OEM due to the issues I have already experienced owning this truck.

The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Engine failure increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect the engine, and as necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles that pass inspection, dealers will add higher viscosity oil, install 6 oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and update the owner's manual. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A detached front grille deflector may become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT5; 2021-2023 Buick Envision; and 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: DRLs that do not deactivate as intended may result in a glare, reducing visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: The body control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2023. General Motors (GM) has decided that certain 2022 model year Chevrolet Silverado, and GMC Sierra vehicles equipped with an accessory sport bar. The accessory sport bar contains a high-mounted brake light that may not function. In addition, it may block the vehicle's existing high-mounted brake light. As such, these vehicles may fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An inoperative high-mounted brake light can reduce visibility to other drivers and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect the installation of the accessory bar and provide the correct vehicle wiring, if necessary, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters advising owners of the safety risk were mailed on August 10, 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 27, 2023. On January 16, 2026, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Recall Query RQ26001. This investigation was opened to assess the remedy effectiveness of Recall 25V-274. ODI has received complaints alleging engine failure in vehicles after the recall remedy had been completed, whether that remedy involved an oil viscosity change or a complete engine replacement. General Motors (GM) issued Recall 25V-274 to address concerns of engine failure in the L87 engines produced between March 1, 2021 and May 31, 2024. GM cited the root cause as a supplier manufacturing and quality issue. GM’s recall remedy for Recall 25V-274 consisted of two different repairs, either an oil viscosity change or an engine replacement, based on the results of the remedy inspection procedure. ODI continues to receive reports of engine failures after the completion of the recall remedy. To date, ODI has received 499 complaints alleging post-remedy engine failure in vehicles subject to Recall 25V-274, 473 of which involved an oil viscosity change and 26 a complete engine replacement. Additionally, ODI has received 191 reports of L87 engine failures in engines produced after the production period cited in Recall 25V-274. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 1,157 reports of engine bearing failure failures in the L87 6.2L engine produced by General Motors (GM). Of the 1,157 reports received, 173 are outside of the scope of recall 25V-274. These engines are installed in Model Years (MY) 2019–2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, and 2021-2024MY Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, GMC Yukon/Yukon XL, and Cadillac Escalade/Escalade ESV vehicles. The subject engine failures were investigated as part of a Preliminary Evaluation (PE25001). GM determined that these engine failures were due to multiple supplier manufacturing and quality issues. GM issued recall 25V-274 to address the supplier manufacturing and quality issues produced between March 1, 2021, and May 31, 2024. Based on the issuance of recall 25V-274, NHTSA has closed PE25001. ODI continues to receive a significant number of reports of engine failure in vehicles outside the scope of 25V-274. This presents a potential safety risk that warrants further investigation. ODI is opening this Engineering Analysis (EA) to further evaluate the scope and severity of the potential problem and to fully assess the potential safety-related issues of vehicles built outside the recall scope. If the engine fails during vehicle operation, the vehicle will lose propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash. On April 24, 2025, GM issued recall 25V-274 to address the concern with L87 engines produced between March 1, 2021, and May 31, 2024. GM cited the root cause as a supplier manufacturing and quality issues. GM’s recall remedy will be either an oil change to an oil with a different viscosity or engine replacement depending on the results of the remedy inspection procedure.
