At around 1,500 miles the truck reduced power. I was able to drive it to the dealership. The dealership reported the lifters had failed and it would be 5-6 months to repair because of the parts shortage.

The contact purchased and installed a new battery; however, the failure persisted. I am filing this complaint regarding a potentially serious safety defect involving my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali four-wheel-drive with the V8 5.3 engine. The vehicle had approximately 28,786 miles at the time of the incident. While traveling on an interstate highway in heavy traffic, my truck suddenly lost engine power. I was extremely fortunate that I was able to maneuver through traffic and get the vehicle onto the shoulder without being struck by another vehicle. A sudden loss of engine power under these conditions could easily have resulted in a serious or fatal collision. Immediately follow the incident Onstar detected diagnostic trouble code P129F The vehicle was subsequently taken to an authorized GM dealership. The dealership diagnosed the problem and replaced the fuel pump power control module to repair the vehicle. I have since learned that General Motors issued service bulletin 24 –NA-139 concerning this condition. The bulletin specifically includes 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles and identifies loss of power stalling and DTC P129F among the possible symptoms. GM states the condition may be caused by an internal short in the K111 fuel pump driver control module/fuel pump, power control module. I am particularly concerned that GM has been aware of this potential failure condition since at least 2024. A failure capable of causing a vehicle to suddenly lose engine power while traveling at Internet speeds presents amsafety hazard not only to the occupants of the affected vehicle but also to surrounding motorist. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this issue including other owner complaints involving error code P129F, fuel pump power control, module failures, stalling, or sudden loss of power in affected GMC Sierra and related to GMC vehicles and determine whether a safety defect investigation or recall is warranted. I purchased said vehicle with a little over 76,000 miles on XXX from NW Chevrolet, [XXX]. Dealership service the engine on XXX and remained on their lot until it was sold. While driving home, I smelled gas fumes coming into the cabin and the engine was misfiring causing slight hesitation in motor acceleration while adjusting to speed limits and climbing hills. I told management at the dealership about these issues on XXX. My vehicle is currently in the shop to fix the fuel injection system, spark plugs, grounding issues as of XXX to fix the dealerships mistake costing more out of pocket expense. Management will not do anything about it because it was sold (As Is) without a warranty which I refused to purchase through finance and interest charges on a car loan. I purchased a 4-year warranty through Endurance on XXX with a 30 day wait period before filing a claim. GM is letting their dealerships advertise and sell problem vehicles with known motor issues to consumers while marking up the sale price. Vehicles should never be sold until GM fixes all motor defects before advertising to the consumer. The consumer is at serious financial risk when getting an auto loan paying on a broken vehicle. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: DRLs that do not deactivate as intended may result in a glare, reducing visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash.

General Motors (GM) has decided that certain 2022 model year Chevrolet Silverado, and GMC Sierra vehicles equipped with an accessory sport bar. The accessory sport bar contains a high-mounted brake light that may not function. In addition, it may block the vehicle's existing high-mounted brake light. As such, these vehicles may fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An inoperative high-mounted brake light can reduce visibility to other drivers and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect the installation of the accessory bar and provide the correct vehicle wiring, if necessary, free of charge. General Motors (GM) issued Recall 25V-274 to address concerns of engine failure in the L87 engines produced between March 1, 2021 and May 31, 2024. GM’s recall remedy for Recall 25V-274 consisted of two different repairs, either an oil viscosity change or an engine replacement, based on the results of the remedy inspection procedure. ODI continues to receive reports of engine failures after the completion of the recall remedy. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 1,157 reports of engine bearing failure failures in the L87 6.2L engine produced by General Motors (GM). Of the 1,157 reports received, 173 are outside of the scope of recall 25V-274. These engines are installed in Model Years (MY) 2019–2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, and 2021-2024MY Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, GMC Yukon/Yukon XL, and Cadillac Escalade/Escalade ESV vehicles. The subject engine failures were investigated as part of a Preliminary Evaluation (PE25001). GM determined that these engine failures were due to multiple supplier manufacturing and quality issues. GM issued recall 25V-274 to address the supplier manufacturing and quality issues produced between March 1, 2021, and May 31, 2024. Based on the issuance of recall 25V-274, NHTSA has closed PE25001. On January 16, 2025, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE25001 after receiving complaints and field reports concerning engine failures in MY2019-2024 GM’s full-size truck and SUV T1XX platform equipped with the L87 6.2L V8 engine. These complainants alleged engine bearing failures resulting in knocking and growling noises from the engine’s bottom end and in some cases more severe consequences such as broken connecting rods leading to engine damage, or engine failure. If the engine fails during vehicle operation, the vehicle will lose propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash. On April 24, 2025, GM issued recall 25V-274 to address the concern with L87 engines produced between March 1, 2021, and May 31, 2024. GM cited the root cause as a supplier manufacturing and quality issues. GM’s recall remedy will be either an oil change to an oil with a different viscosity or engine replacement depending on the results of the remedy inspection procedure. To date, ODI has received 1,157 allegations of engine bearing failure. GM submitted 55,464 reports in total, with 29,752 unique VINs. ODI continues to receive allegations of L87 engine failures which fall outside of the scope of recall 25V-274. Based on GM’s recall, ODI will close this PE.
