My car will not shut off as I am parked and “shift to park” is alerting me. The car keeps beeping. I have to re-start it multiple times and shift it in and out of park for it to finally go off. This last time it took 25 min to shut my car off.

When attempting to park vehicle, the alert "Shift to Park" populates and the car will not completely shut down. This happens sporadically and can take up to 15 minutes to get vehicle in the right position to completely park and shut off. If it's not in the proper park position, the car can continue running, battery drainage and possible roll out of place. This also causes issues with the transmission not shutting off. I have not had this particular vehicle inspected, but contact with dealer service departments confirms continued complaints of this issue and it has not been addressed by GMC/General Motors. Problem has been occurring at various times over last 3 years.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Infotainment system continuously changes screens without being touched. No matter what screen is displayed, it will change on it's own to various other screens. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? While I was driving I was using my GPS via CarPlay and the directions were displayed on the Infotainment screen. The screen started changing to other screens and at one point changed to the back up camera. I was almost in an accident because I was unable to see the directions and frightened and confused when the back up camera appeared while I was going forward on the highway. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, I took the car to the dealership while it was still under warranty and they told me it was due to me using CarPlay and that my iPhone just needed to be updated. I updated my phone and the problem never went away. So now I've stopped using CarPlay and the problem is still occurring. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Only the dealership. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warnings. The problem first appeared in late 2020 early 2021. I have a video recording of the issue as well. Also when I Google the issue lots of other owners are complaining of the same issue.

My vehicle didn't shift into park all the way or the ADAS didn't register it. I would have to hit it quite hard with my palm to make it register. This happened for 3 months straight and finally stopped as sudden as it started. I tried to report it to GMC and was told there wasn't such an issue.

I would put my car in park but it would not let me turn the engine off, I would put it back in drive and then park again but it wouldn’t let me turn the engine off. I displayed a message that I needed to put the car in park. I repeated the process and then later it would let me turn the engine off. This happened several times. I took it to my car dealer and they fixed the problem but I had to pay for the repair. They said if there was a recall, they would refund my money. I saw where this same problem was a recall for my vehicle up to 2018. My car is a 2019.

21V115000 · Tires

Feb 25, 2021

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT4, XT5, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, Traverse, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, 2018-2021 Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana, 2019-2020 Chevrolet Blazer, Silverado 1500, GMC Acadia, Sierra 1500, and certain Continental tires sold to the aftermarket for various model year 2018-2021 vehicles. The affected tires were cured for too long during production.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Over cured tires may develop a break in the sidewall resulting in sudden air loss or a belt edge separation which could lead to a tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tires, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 22, 2021. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Buick customer service at 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. The start/stop accumulator endcap may have missing bolts.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Missing bolts on the start-stop accumulator endcap could result in a transmission oil leak and may progress to a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash. A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of fire.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the start-stop transmission accumulator and replace it if any bolts are missing, free of charge. The recall began December 15, 2020.
