1. ·On [XXX] I was driving on the freeway at highway speeds when the car shut itself down and went into neutral and accessory mode. No warning lights came on. Nothing happened if I hit the gas or the brake or tried to change the gear. With the car being shut down, I could have been hit by other cars traveling at high rates of speed or caused an accident due to my car shutting itself off. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by a dealer. They said it needed an entirely new transmission. No, the car has not be inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance agents, or others. 2. ·On [XXX], I was again driving on the freeway at freeway speeds when the car shut itself off and went into neutral and accessory mode. Nothing happened if I hit the gas or the brake or tried to change the gear. No warning lights came on. Nothing happened if I hit the gas or the brake or tried to change the gear. With the car being shut down, I could have been hit by other cars traveling at high rates of speed or caused an accident due to my car shutting itself off. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by a dealer. They said it needed an entirely new transmission. When I spoke to the service department, I was told "it was not the first transmission they've replaced." No, the car has not be inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance agents, or others. 3.·On [XXX] I was exiting the freeway and accelerating to merge in the far left lane when the loaner car given to me by the dealer, another Genesis GV80, shut itself off and went into neutral and accessory mode. Again, nothing happened when I pressed the gas or the brake or tried to change the gear. No warning lights came on. My tire got ripped while I was driving on the highway. This is 2024 vehicle and less than 20000 miles.
Hyundai Motor America (Genesis) is recalling certain Genesis 2022-2026 GV70, 2023-2025 G90, 2021-2025 G80, and GV80 vehicles. Fuel may leak at the pipe connection between the fuel pipe and fuel rail.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A fuel leak increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and tighten, or replace the fuel pipe as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning July 20, 2026. Owners may contact Genesis customer service at 844-340-9741. Genesis' number for this recall is 033G. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning April 11, 2026.
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain Genesis 2023-2024 G80, GV80, 2025 GV70 and 2023-2025 GV70 "Electrified" vehicles. Due to a software error, the instrument panel display may fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and update the instrument panel display software, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 26, 2025. Owners may contact Genesis customer service at 844-340-9741. Hyundai's number for this recall is 026G.
