Hello [XXX], I was wondering are you handling the case against Hyundai/Genesis. I own a 2022 GV70 43K on it, took it to the dealer on 7/24/26 photos on file at the dealer in Dublin, Ca. Got home in the evening, and parked my car in my garage, then left the next evening 7/25/26 to a wedding got home late, 7/26/26 drove my card to get a bite to eat and seen this, (see photos) I reviewed on line and this a known issue with Hyundai/Genesis a well documented factory defect. That the paint just lifts off due to no being cured properly. That it prematurely oxidizes and weakens and peels off, mine is not oxidized but it just has peeled straight off the hood. This is like toyota white tacoma Trucks issues, with paint. Are you handling this and where do I get in on the claim or start one? for a 60K vehicle this is unacceptable. I also have a video. Vehicle experienced water intrusion through sunroof drainage system during rainfall, causing saturation of interior components and electrical malfunctions. Water accumulated in cup holders, dashboard areas, and saturated headliner materials. Following water exposure, vehicle developed multiple safety-critical electrical failures including: false forward collision avoidance system activation causing unexpected emergency braking with no obstruction present, and improper auto start/stop system engagement during low-speed driving causing vehicle to jerk and stall while in motion. Despite reporting this safety issue immediately, manufacturer Genesis Motor America failed to disclose that this was a known defect covered under Technical Service Bulletin 24-BD-008G. Customer service representatives did not mention existing TSB and refused emergency service appointments, forcing 2-month wait for service scheduling despite life-threatening electrical malfunctions. Customer had to independently discover TSB documentation through research. Only after customer escalated with TSB evidence did Genesis authorize repair. Dealer confirmed drainage system failure and completed repairs per TSB guidelines that manufacturer should have immediately referenced. Genesis's failure to disclose known safety defect and refusal of emergency service created extended exposure to dangerous electrical malfunctions that could result in accidents.

SAFETY DEFECT: Water intrusion through defective sunroof drainage system creating electrical hazards. Vehicle exhibits water leakage into interior during rainfall due to clogged sunroof drain hose plugs. Water accumulates in dashboard area, cup holders, and center console where electrical components are located, creating potential for electrical shorts, fires, or system failures. Component Failure: Sunroof drainage system fails to properly channel water away from vehicle interior. Manufacturer has issued Technical Service Bulletin 24-BD-008G acknowledging this defect in GV70 and GV80 models, stating "vehicles may exhibit water leakage inside the vehicle due to the sunroof drain hose plugs being clogged with foreign material." Safety Risk: Standing water near electrical systems poses fire hazard and potential electrical failure while driving. Interior materials remain saturated creating mold conditions affecting air quality. Driver visibility may be compromised by water dripping from interior surfaces. Dealer Confirmation: Multiple owners report Genesis service technicians confirming drainage system design cannot handle normal rainfall volumes. Other owners have received warranty repairs for identical symptoms after manufacturer initially resisted. Symptoms: No warning lamps appear. Problem manifests during any rainfall with water appearing in cup holders, dashboard areas, and dripping from interior panels. Issue occurs while vehicle is parked or in motion during rain. Widespread Problem: Manufacturer acknowledgment through official Technical Service Bulletin indicates this affects multiple vehicles with same design defect. Component available for inspection. In April 2024, I was driving down a side street at about 30 mph. Suddenly there was a slam against the side of the car. I pulled over a block later and found that the passenger side mirror housing had gone into the "closed/locked" position, evidently at speed, dislodging the side mirror. The mirror had then slammed into the car door frame, denting it, and cracking the mirror, causing some of it to shatter away. Thankfully, my car windows were closed or I would likely have had glass shards flying into my car cabin at high speed. There is no damage at all to the mirror housing. I have no explanation for the sudden, fast closing movement other than something that caused it to think it needed to close. I took the car to a Genesis dealer. Without any examination, they told me it "could not be" a flaw in the car; that there must have been an impact. I asked how that could happen with no damage to the mirror housing at a high enough speed to completely dislodge the glued-in and fastened-in mirror and dent the window frame on the car. They had no explanation. I then reported this to Genesis. Their response was I would have to take it to a dealer to be looked at. Neither dealer in the area would sell me a new mirror to self-install and were "squirrely" about when a repair could be made, citing "supply chain" problems getting a replacement mirror. Three weeks ago (late June), while driving on a highway at approximately 70 mph, the same passenger side mirror housing suddenly slammed into the closed position. There was no damage to the car because the mirror was already missing. But this makes me very concerned about replacing the mirror if this intermittent problem is going to recur. I have an appointment at a different dealership scheduled for the end of this month and (along with the open recall and standard service) am asking them to look at this problem again. Pictures provided are of damaged mirror, dented car window frame, and undamaged mirror housing.

The issue reported has been since day one having the vehicle. The hood shakes excessively, sometimes violently, while driving at highway speeds as well as at non-highway speeds if any significant headwind is present. This flapping creates uneven and unpredictable drag that affects the straight-line tracking of the vehicle under normal driving situations. These characteristics are exacerbated by turns at highway speeds and on surface streets on particularly windy days. As the hood rises, air enters the engine compartment and causes uneven pressure changes and an unpredictable swirling and turbulent flow of air that the vehicle is not designed to handle. These combined forces acting on the vehicle throw the lane assist, cruise control, and lane departure warning systems into fits. On more than one occasion I have had to 'fight' the vehicles inputs to stay on the desired track and to avoid departing the road. Aside from immediate safety concerns, the abnormal stresses imposed on the vehicle, components, and tires are causing wear at an unknown rate and a premature component failure is likely. Napleton Genesis attempted to adjust the hood on two occasions prior to claiming to put a new hood on the vehicle. After yielding no positive results, a remedy was sought by contacting Genesis Motor America. They claimed to not know of similar complaints. After several email and phone conversations the vehicle was sent to Pugi Genesis for another failed adjustment attempt. My suspicions that it is a design flaw relating to the 'Clamshell' design of the hood were confirmed by the contact below, who stated on a recorded line on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, that she received an email from 'the engineers' claiming that they are aware of the issue and that they will not follow up because 'it is fine'. Hyundai Motor America (Genesis) is recalling certain Genesis 2022-2026 GV70, 2023-2025 G90, 2021-2025 G80, and GV80 vehicles. Fuel may leak at the pipe connection between the fuel pipe and fuel rail.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A fuel leak increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and tighten, or replace the fuel pipe as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning July 20, 2026. Owners may contact Genesis customer service at 844-340-9741. Genesis' number for this recall is 033G. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning April 11, 2026.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 7, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 022G. This recall is an expansion of recall number 23V-630.

Remedy: Dealers will secure the seat belt pretensioners with a cap, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 14, 2023. For GV60 owners, Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed April 14, 2023. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 012G. This recall supersedes and expands recall number 21V-796. On August 8, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Recall Query (RQ) based on 3 incidents alleging front seat belt pretensioners that may rupture during deployment, on model year (MY) 2020-2022 of various Hyundai and Kia Models, resulting in 3 injuries (note: one incident occurred outside the U.S. and its territories).Between October 2021 and March 2023, Hyundai and Kia have filed the following 11 safety recalls for pretensioner rupture: NHTSA Recall No. 21V-796, 22V-069, 22V-123, 22V-127, 22V-218, 22V-354, 22V-447, 22V-458, 22V-816, 23V-094, and 23V-210.Hyundai/Kia have stated that the abnormal deployment of the pretensioners is due to over-pressurization of the pretensioner pipe that can cause metal fragments to enter the vehicle occupant compartment, which can result in injury to vehicle occupants.The various makes/models covered by the above recalls include approximately 405,900 certain 2020-2022 Hyundai Accent, 2021-2022 Hyundai Elantra and Elantra HEV, 2021-2022 Hyundai Santa Fe HEV, 2022-2023 Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV, 2020-2022 Hyundai Venue, 2021-2023 Genesis G80, 2023 Genesis G80 EV, 2023 Genesis G90, 2023 Genesis GV60 EV, 2022-2023 Genesis GV70, 2021-2023 Genesis GV80, 2021-2022 Kia Sorento HEV, and 2022 Kia Sorento PHEV.In response to ODI's investigation, in December 2022, Hyundai notified ODI that they would be conducting testing to validate subject vehicle seat belt pretensioners. ODI met with representatives from Hyundai on several occasions during the investigation to discuss testing progress and data. As a result of the testing, Hyundai was able to simulate the pretensioner failures. It was determined by Hyundai during testing, the front driver-side and/or passenger-side seat belt pretensioners may explode upon deployment in the event of a crash which can cause metal fragments to enter the vehicle occupant compartment.Hyundai thus notified ODI of their decision to proceed with a safety recall, to expand the scope of the previous safety actions.In view of the recall actions taken by Hyundai and Kia, ODI concerns have been addressed. The agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances.

ODI met with representatives from Hyundai on several occasions during the investigation to discuss testing progress and data. As a result of the testing, Hyundai was able to simulate the pretensioner failures. It was determined by Hyundai during testing, the front driver-side and/or passenger-side seat belt pretensioners may explode upon deployment in the event of a crash which can cause metal fragments to enter the vehicle occupant compartment.Hyundai thus notified ODI of their decision to proceed with a safety recall, to expand the scope of the previous safety actions.In view of the recall actions taken by Hyundai and Kia, ODI concerns have been addressed.
