TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FOUR WINDS INTERNATIONAL WINDSPORT MOTOR HOME RV. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE CALIPERS BEGAN STICKING AND BECAME OVERHEATED. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BRAKES FAILED TO RELEASE WHEN THEY WERE APPLIED. THE WHEELS ON THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE AND BECAME BRIGHT RED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE BRAKES WERE CLEANED AND REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT PREVIOUSLY RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID 09V204000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE PARTS WERE ON BACKORDER. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THE CURRENT BRAKES ON THE VEHICLE WERE SEVERELY DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. AFTER THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RECEIVE PARTIAL REIMBURSEMENT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 46,000. UPDATED 10/27/10. *LJ UPDATED 12/7/10 *CN
