TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 RAM 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DOING A ROUTINE CHECK ON THE BRAKES, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE REAR LEAD SPRING BOLTS DETACHED FROM THE WHEEL. THE RV WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER QUIETWOODS RV FOX VALLEY 9042 CAMPERS WAY, NEENAH, WI 54956 WHERE A VISUAL INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED AND DETERMINED THAT THE REAR LEAD SPRING FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE RV WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V366000 (SUSPENSION) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFER ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 28,000.

18V134000 · Equipment:recreational Vehicle/trailer

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Forest River XLR Toyhauler recreational trailers, models XLT25KW, XLT25KW-W, XLT28KW and XLT28KW-W. The safety chains on these vehicles do not exceed the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of the trailer.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the trailer becomes uncoupled, the existing safety chains may fail, allowing the trailer to separate from the tow vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace the safety chains with chains that exceed the vehicle's GVWR, free of charge. The recall began on March 13, 2018. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-0432. Forest River's number for this recall is 45-0645.

17V366000 · Suspension

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2016-2017 XLR ToyHauler recreational trailers, models XLT23KW and WZXLT23KW. These vehicles were built with axle equalizers that are too long.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: An equalizer that is too short in length may cause a failure of the equalizer and/or axle springs, resulting in a possible loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install the correct equalizers, free of charge. The recall began on June 28, 2017. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-0432. Forest River's number for this recall is 45-05312017-0415.
