CAMPER FURRION DV3100 STEREO SAFETY HAZARD. THE CAMPER WAS STATIONARY AND IN USE AT A NYS PARK WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THIS RADIO FAILURE RESULTED IN ONE OF THE STEREO CHANNELS OUTPUTTING PURE DC POWER TO THE SPEAKER SHORTING THE SPEAKER OUT. THE RESULTING POWER DISSIPATION CAUSED THE SPEAKER CASE TO BEGIN MELTING. IF LEFT UNCHECKED OR UNATTENDED THIS MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A VEHICLE FIRE. LUCKILY FOR US WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS THE STEREO SQUEALS LIKE A PIG SO IT WOULD BE SHUT OFF AND WE NEVER LEAVE OUR CAMPER WITH ACCESSORIES ON. I AM AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER AND HAVE A FULL FAILURE INVESTIGATION AVAILABLE WITH DETAILED MEASUREMENTS, PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEOS. THIS FAILURE INITIALLY OCCURRED SHORTLY AFTER THE CAMPER PURCHASE, BUT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY SPEAKER BY THE DEALERSHIP. I REPLACED THE LAST SPEAKER PERSONALLY AND WAS APPALLED AT MY FINDINGS AND INVESTIGATED FURTHER TO DETERMINE ROOT CAUSE. I CONTACTED FURRION AND WORKED THROUGH MY INVESTIGATION WITH THEM MAKING SURE THEY WERE AWARE OF ALL OF MY FINDINGS.THE RADIO MANUFACTURER DID NOT SEEM INTERESTED IN MAKING SURE OTHERS WERE MADE AWARE OF THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM. HENCE MY FILING OF THIS ISSUE.
