The contact owns a 2022 Forest River Avenger RV equipped with a stove and an oven. The contact stated that the stove was made with a mounted glass cover, and upon lowering the glass cover on the grate after cooking, the glass exploded. Additionally, the contact stated that the oven was made with a mounted exterior glass cover, in addition to the interior glass. The contact stated that the exterior glass cover of the oven exploded upon closing the oven after being used. There were no injuries sustained. The contact stated that the glass covers were not heat-resistant. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The RV was not diagnosed nor repaired. The RV manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The equipment was not replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 1,200.

The Federal Placard on these vehicles only indicates that the rear tire size is ST225/75R15E tires with 80 PSI, when the placard should state that the front, rear, and spare tires are ST225/75R15E tires with 80 PSI. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims," and 567, "Certification."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: The incomplete Federal placard information could cause the user to install an incorrect tire, resulting in a possible overloading of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Forest River will notify owners and will provide a corrected Federal placard, free of charge. The recall began on May 18, 2017. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-862-1025. Forest River's number for this recall is 50-04182017-0392.
