Today 11/21/24, I notified my husband as I am driving up the ramp going 50 my ford started to shake hard. I had to hold on to the steering wheel and pull over with out pressing the break. I came to a stop and kept him on the phone in case I were to flip over. The vehicle stopped wobbling and I started up again. I was not able to drive but less than 40 and again the wobble coming back. The commute for me was over 1 hour. I would not make it alive home. This vehicle had to go to the shop as if I were to drive home I would not be alive at this moment

Death wobble--great oscillation and shuddering of steering wheel and vehicle itself after hitting patches of rough road at highway speeds. This has happened 5 times now. Truck is currently being inspected for any faulty equipment. This occurred on interstate 10 in LA, and if not for quick thinking, I would have swerved into other traffic or lost control completely. This is a known problem with Ford F250s and is very dangerous. No warnings, no lights, and no way to predict that this might occur driving over rough pavement.

THE SURVICE ADVISER DID STATE THAT ONE OF THERE TECHNICIAN DID KNOWDICE A SLIDE VIBRATION WHILE TEST DRIVING IT BUT OTHER THEN THAT NO PROBEMS. THEY DID REPLACE A PART AT ONE TIME BUT IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT [RED MCCOMB] ON 6TH OF FEBRUARY TO DROP OFF THE TRUCK TO CHECK OUT AGAIN. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ANY MORE. THIS LAST TIME THE VIBRATION WAS REAL BAD. HAD HARD TIME GETTING IT UNDER CONTROL ON A MAJOR CITY HIGHWAY. I THOUGH I WAS GOING TO GET KILL. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AND SAFETY DRIVING THAT TRUCK. I DON'T WANT TO SELL IT AND PUT SOMEBODY ELSE LIFE IN DANGER. I CALLED FORD MANUFACTURE ON AROUND THE 17 OR 18 OF JANUARY AND INFORMED THEM ABOUT IT. THE CONVERSATION WAS RECORDED ACCORDING TO THEM. THEY ACTED LIKE THERE HAS BEEN NO PROBLEM WITH THOSE TRUCKS. THEY CONTACTED ME BACK WITH THE DEALERSHIP. THATS WHEN I MADE THE APPOINTMENT. I BOUGHT THAT TRUCK NEW IN TEMPLE TEXAS FROM THE JOHNSON BROTHERS DEALERSHIP IN JUNE 2012. RED MCCOMB HAS MAINTAIN ALL OF THE REQUIRED MAINTANACE AND MECHANICLE PROBLEMS SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW. JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING IS DOCUMENTRED THERE.

when i was driving it, It would stallout and no power to the foot feed, you couldnt hear the motor running, pull over, and then the foot padel, feed would work again, with no service light came on, happen when i also pulled out to make a left turn or right turn also, I told Car lot, well we cant do anything if service light dosent come on, I ask them to keep it and drive it, as it only did it some times, I no longer have it as it was a danager in driveing it and also , had to have a fix it ticket, after, think the covered it up, lost 1000.oo dolars on it. Truck can kill some one not fix, cheek car fax, no repairs on it

I was driving on the highway and the front of the truck started to shake uncontrollably. I thought maybe I hit something. Then a little while longer it did it again when I hit a bump. Thank goodness not a lot of cars around I had to turn on my blinkers and try to pull over . No warning lights no bells no whistles nothin happen before or after. Then on August 29,2021 it happened again this time a busy road . Cars behind me almost ran into me I don’t remember any bumps in the road at all . There was no warning ,!scared me. Next time might not be so lucky . I called the Ford dealer and he has made an appointment to see the truck in over a week . Guess we just keep driving and pray it doesn’t happen and no one dies . Thanks Ford .

When driving on the interstate at the start of a full day on the road, the front of the truck started shaking violently. At first, I thought I had encountered a rough stretch of road, but there was no way the washboard effect I was experiencing was from the road. It was far too fast and violent. My next thoughts were that I was about to lose a front tire...or both front tires...or maybe the engine was seizing up. Whatever it was, something was seriously wrong and it was scary. I responded by taking my foot off the accelerator and braking, and then easing across two lanes of traffic to the side of the road, where the shaking stopped. I was traveling with my daughter and five-month-old granddaughter, and once I slowed down, the shaking stopped. The truck then ran normally and we were able to resume our trip without any further issues. The truck is currently at the Ford dealer to be serviced and they are looking into the problem, though when I described what had happened, the lady at the service desk said, "Yeah, some of these trucks have that problem." I now have serious concerns about the safety of this truck, particularly since I often travel alone pulling a horse trailer and for long distances. Were this to happen with a fully loaded trailer, in heavy traffic, on a curve, and/or going down a mountain pass, I don't know what would happen since with the steering wheel and front of the truck were shaking so violently that it didn't feel like I had any control over the front end of the vehicle. I am grateful I was on a straight stretch of highway and that the traffic wasn't too heavy.

FORD IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 F-150 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM SEPTEMBER 9, 2011, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 22, 2011, AND MODEL YEAR 2012 F-250, F-350, F-450 AND F-550 HEAVY DUTY VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM SEPTEMBER 12, 2011, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 22, 2011. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NUMBER 114, “THEFT PROTECTION.” THE TRANSMISSION CAN BE SHIFTED OUT OF THE PARK POSITION WITHOUT PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL DUE TO BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK SWITCH PROBLEM.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS WILL ALLOW THE OPERATOR TO INADVERTENTLY SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO GEAR WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH OR INJURY TO A NEARBY PEDESTRIAN.

Remedy: FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK SWITCH FUNCTION AND REPLACE THE SWITCH IF NECESSARY, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 22, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AT 1-866-436-7332.

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this RQ to investigate allegations that the scope and remedy of safety recall 13V-535 were inadequate. Recall 13V-535 was limited to a relatively small population of Ambulance Package vehicles and ODI received complaints of pickup trucks and Fire Engine Prep Package vehicles being affected by the same defect. Ford manufactured approximately 555,985 subject vehicles between February 22, 2010 and January 30, 2015 that may be affected by defective EGT sensors and Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software calibration. The subject vehicles are equipped with four (4) EGT sensors to monitor engine operating conditions. An EGT sensor fault may produce false exhaust over-temperature signals. If these signals are produced, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) implements a Failure Management Effects Mode (FMEM) and the driver receives a Stop Safely Now (SSN) system warning on the instrument cluster message center. The FMEM triggers a 70% reduction in available engine power over a period of no more than 45 seconds, during which it may not be possible to accelerate or maintain vehicle speed. The PCM then commands the engine to shut down when vehicle speed reaches approximately 1 mph. There is no immediate restart capability. Depending on the PCM software calibration, ignition key position and ambient temperature conditions, the engine may not restart until the end of a 10-60 minute cool down period.Ford and its component supplier(s) made numerous changes to the PCM software calibration and the design, material and manufacture of the EGT sensors over the period of subject vehicle production. This continuous product improvement affected vehicle performance regarding the alleged defect. Ford acknowledges the defect condition in the subject vehicles but argues that an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety is limited to Ambulance Package and Fire Engine Prep Package vehicles where commanded shutdown could impact emergency response and patient care. Ford also argues that the defect trend is in decline. Ford also initiated a new safety recall (15V-175) to address the 13V-535 remedy concerns in the Ambulance Package vehicles and Fire Engine Prep Package vehicles. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this RQ to investigate allegations that the scope and remedy of safety recall 13V-535 were inadequate. Recall 13V-535 was limited to a relatively small population of Ambulance Package vehicles and ODI received complaints of pickup trucks and Fire Engine Prep Package vehicles being affected by the same defect. Ford manufactured approximately 555,985 subject vehicles between February 22, 2010 and January 30, 2015 that may be affected by defective EGT sensors and Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software calibration. The subject vehicles are equipped with four (4) EGT sensors to monitor engine operating conditions. An EGT sensor fault may produce false exhaust over-temperature signals. If these signals are produced, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) implements a Failure Management Effects Mode (FMEM) and the driver receives a Stop Safely Now (SSN) system warning on the instrument cluster message center. The FMEM triggers a 70% reduction in available engine power over a period of no more than 45 seconds, during which it may not be possible to accelerate or maintain vehicle speed. The PCM then commands the engine to shut down when vehicle speed reaches approximately 1 mph. There is no immediate restart capability.
