Going down the freeway, I ran over a couple of pot holes. The truck began to vibrate and the vibration got so bad I thought I was going to lose control. I was able to slow down and pull off the freeway causing the vibration to disappear, and returned to the freeway without further incident. This is the 6th or 7th time the rattle was felt, although this incident was worse than any other event.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle drove over a slight bump on the roadway and the steering wheel began to move left to right and the vehicle was shaking and unable to maintain a straight line in the lane. The contact stated he was not aware of any warning lights being illuminated. The contact pulled off the road and placed the vehicle in park(P) and waited with the engine running. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the ball joints and the steering dampener needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000.

I was driving at approximatelly 60mmph when the left front end starte shaking and vibrating so bad I could not keep it on the road. Luckly it was a two lane road with an emergency lane. when I came to a stop the vibration and shakinf stopped. I took it to the ford dealership. They told me I needed frontsuspension tie rods, ball joint assy shock absorbers drag links . Plus $1,156 dollars labor. Told me the truck was fixed to come and get it. They test drove it 5 miles. I picked it up. I had an appointment to go to. I went to it, and on my return the truck did the same thing on my return, this time it pushed me into the right hand lane, barely missing a car beside me. The drive stopped and asked me wht the hell as going on.. I explained and he said you better get the damn thig fixed. This was a Friday night. I parkd it and took it back to the dealer Monday morning. They did not beleive me. I took the tech on a drive, it happened right where it happened to me. I drove back a different way to the dealership to avoid the freeway. I happened again on this road. They went back to work on it. This time they installed a dual steering stabilizer, another $842 dollars, no charge for labor after i bitched. As a 30 year degreed mechanical engineer with years of buying and having machines and equipment repaired I beleive the first fixed the effects of the issue and then with the stabilizer hopefully fixed the cause. There was no warning it just happened out of the blue. I haveread up on th death wobble, and feel lucky I did not get killed.

I have been experiencing what is known as the Death Wobble. The death wobble is a violent shaking that happens to the front end of many Ford F250 and F350 Super Duty trucks. It typically occurs at speeds over 50 miles per hour. It can also happen after going over bumps or grooves in the road. To stop the shaking, drivers must quickly slow way down or even stop completely. In addition to the shaking potentially causing the driver to lose control of the truck, slowing or having to stop on fast-moving highways also puts both truck occupants and other vehicles at risk. I have taken this Vehicle to NTB for repairs and even had new tires put on in the event that was the issue. They have replaced all the steering linkages, tie-rods, ball joints, etc dealing with steering to no avail. I have taken this pickup back into the repair shop on 10/24/2022 once again as this has made me have to stop on major freeways to get the wobble to stop. This is putting me and others in danger.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was smoke coming from underneath the hood with an unknown fluid splattering onto the front windshield. Additionally, an abnormally strong diesel odor was detected while the vehicle was parked and while driving. Upon inspection, the contact noticed there was fluid leaking underneath the hood and dripping down to the fender. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine block was cracked. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a faulty fuel filter housing and that the fuel filter assembly needed to be replaced. The dealer replaced the fuel filter assembly. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Lincoln MKC, Mustang, F-350 SD, F-250 SD, F-450 SD, 2015-2017 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, 2015-2018 Edge, Transit Connect, 2016-2019 F-550 SD, Transit, 2017-2019 Econoline, and 2019 Ranger vehicles. The rearview camera may display a distorted, inverted, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A rearview camera that displays an inverted, distorted, or blank image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 13, 2026. Ford owners will receive letters in phases, beginning January 2026 and June 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S89. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 25V270. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 8, 2025.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks manufactured September 13, 2013, through March 28, 2014, and equipped with 6.2L gasoline or 6.7L diesel engines and 6R140 transmissions. An error with the transmission control software may be such that while shifting from "Park" to "Drive" the vehicle may display "Drive" but possibly engage "Reverse" for 1.5 seconds before engaging "Drive." Therefore, the vehicles do not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the vehicle is in "Reverse" while the while the gear selection shows "Drive," unexpected movement could occur, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will update the transmission software, free of charge. The recall began on May 6, 2014. Owners may contact Fords customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14C04.

Of these complaints, 12 describe an engine compartment fire. The proximity of the secondary fuel filter to high heat sources creates a potential for autoignition thermal events and fires. ODI has contacted the vehicle manufacturer, Ford, and the filter manufacturer, Allevard Sogefi USA (Sogefi), and learned that the low-pressure fuel system is capable of a maximum operating pressure of 8.5 Bar, while the secondary fuel filter is only tested to seven (7) Bar during the manufacturing process. Additionally, changes starting in 2022 by both Ford and Sogefi align with a lack of similar complaints on MY 2022 and newer vehicles. ODI is opening this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) to evaluate the severity of the potential problem and to fully assess the potential safety-related problems. Recall 13V-535 was limited to a relatively small population of Ambulance Package vehicles and ODI received complaints of pickup trucks and Fire Engine Prep Package vehicles being affected by the same defect. Ford manufactured approximately 555,985 subject vehicles between February 22, 2010 and January 30, 2015 that may be affected by defective EGT sensors and Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software calibration. The subject vehicles are equipped with four (4) EGT sensors to monitor engine operating conditions. An EGT sensor fault may produce false exhaust over-temperature signals. If these signals are produced, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) implements a Failure Management Effects Mode (FMEM) and the driver receives a Stop Safely Now (SSN) system warning on the instrument cluster message center. The FMEM triggers a 70% reduction in available engine power over a period of no more than 45 seconds, during which it may not be possible to accelerate or maintain vehicle speed. The PCM then commands the engine to shut down when vehicle speed reaches approximately 1 mph. There is no immediate restart capability. Depending on the PCM software calibration, ignition key position and ambient temperature conditions, the engine may not restart until the end of a 10-60 minute cool down period.Ford and its component supplier(s) made numerous changes to the PCM software calibration and the design, material and manufacture of the EGT sensors over the period of subject vehicle production. This continuous product improvement affected vehicle performance regarding the alleged defect. Engine And Engine Cooling:exhaust System

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this RQ to investigate allegations that the scope and remedy of safety recall 13V-535 were inadequate. Recall 13V-535 was limited to a relatively small population of Ambulance Package vehicles and ODI received complaints of pickup trucks and Fire Engine Prep Package vehicles being affected by the same defect. Ford manufactured approximately 555,985 subject vehicles between February 22, 2010 and January 30, 2015 that may be affected by defective EGT sensors and Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software calibration. The subject vehicles are equipped with four (4) EGT sensors to monitor engine operating conditions. An EGT sensor fault may produce false exhaust over-temperature signals. If these signals are produced, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) implements a Failure Management Effects Mode (FMEM) and the driver receives a Stop Safely Now (SSN) system warning on the instrument cluster message center. The FMEM triggers a 70% reduction in available engine power over a period of no more than 45 seconds, during which it may not be possible to accelerate or maintain vehicle speed. The PCM then commands the engine to shut down when vehicle speed reaches approximately 1 mph. There is no immediate restart capability. Depending on the PCM software calibration, ignition key position and ambient temperature conditions, the engine may not restart until the end of a 10-60 minute cool down period.Ford and its component supplier(s) made numerous changes to the PCM software calibration and the design, material and manufacture of the EGT sensors over the period of subject vehicle production. This continuous product improvement affected vehicle performance regarding the alleged defect.
