AS I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES. WITH MINUTES, I HAVE NOW POWER TO THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE CAR BATTERY IS DEAD COMPLETELY. THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR CHECKS OUT FINE. ONCE THE BATTERY HAS BEEN FULLY CHARGED, THE BATTERY LIGHT GOES OFF. THE NEXT DAY, SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED. I AM STRANDED BOTH TIMES. I CALL THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT, ASHEVILLE FORD, TO HAVE THEM TOW IN TO LOOK AT IT. THEY ARE TOO BUSY AND LOOK AT IT FOR 2+ WEEKS. I HAVE TO CALL A DEALER 40 MILES AWAY FROM ME AND HAVE IT TOWED TO THEM. WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPT. THAT IT IS A COMMON COMPLAINT AND THEY NEED TO 'FLASH' OR RE- SET THE COMPUTER SYSTEM AT A 200$ COST TO ME. THIS IS INFURIATING.

VEHICLE HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION. THERE IS DIFFICULTY STARTING THE VEHICLE DUE TO A FAULTY IGNITION CYLINDER REQUIRING THE OPERATOR TO HAVE TO PUSH THE KEY IN, OFTEN WITH GREAT PRESSURE, THEN TWIST THE KEY TO GET THE CAR TO START. EVENTUALLY THE IGNITION MECHANISM WILL FAIL COMPLETELY REQUIRING THE ENTIRE IGNITION HOUSING WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN TO BE REPLACED AND AT GREAT EXPENSE. I WAS LEFT STRANDED WHEN THE CAR FAILED TO START AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. REPAIRS COST OVER $500. THE PROBLEM NEVER AFFECTED ME DURING NORMAL DRIVING, ONLY WHEN THE CAR NEEDED TO BE STARTED. A SIMPLE SEARCH REVEALED MANY OTHER ESCAPE OWNERS REPORT THE EXACT SAME ISSUE SO IT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THIS IS A RANDOM PROBLEM OR THE RESULT OF NORMAL WEAR. INDEED, THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT THAT WAS NEVER ADDRESSED BY FORD. HOWEVER, THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE SINCE, AS HAPPENED TO ME, THE CAR CAN AND WILL LEAVE THE DRIVER STRANDED WHICH, IT SHOULD GO WITHOUT SAYING, IS NOT JUST AN INCONVENIENCE BUT ALSO A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. THESE VEHICLES NEED TO BE RECALLED AND THE PROBLEM REMEDIED BY FORD. SINCE I ALREADY PAID FOR THE REPAIR I THINK IT ONLY FAIR THAT FORD REIMBURSE ME THE COSTS.

I HAVE ALREADY SUBMITTED ONE STATEMENT. I AM JUST WONDERING WHY MY VEHICLE WASN'T INCLUDED ON THE RECALLS LISTED BELOW WHEN IT SOUNDS LIKE THE EXACT KIND OF PROBLEM I HAVE BEEN HAVING WITH MY VEHICLE. WHEN STARTED IT DOESN'T TAKE OFF AND GET UP TO SPEED WITHOUT HESITATION AND STALLING. AND WHEN I DO GET UP TO SPEED IT LOSES POWER AT THE MOST INOPPORTUNE TIME I HAVE BEEN IN SEVERAL NEAR ACCIDENTS DUE TO THE ENGINE NOT RUNNING PROPERLY. THE CODES THAT HAVE BEEN COMING UP. AND THE CHECK ENGINE SUGGESTIONS. HAVE BEEN TESTED BY FOUR DIFFERENT MECHANICS NONE OF WHICH COULD FALL FIND A PROBLEM TILL RECENTLY. AND I'M BEING TOLD THAT THE TURBO BOOST CODE IS BEEN CAUSED BY FAULTY WIRING WHICH IS HAPPENED TO BE TOTALLY REPLACED. AS PER MY OTHER STATEMENT I AM HAVING IT REPAIRED TOMORROW BUT NOT BEING REIMBURSED. AND IF OTHER 2013 FORD ESCAPE DRIVERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE THERE MAY BE SOME UNRECORDED DESK DUE TO THE ENGINE STALLING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE INCONSISTENT RUNNING UP THE ENGINE WHEN THESE CODES POP UP. THE CODES ARE ALSO SPORADIC AS I SAID IN MY OTHER STATEMENT. ONE TIME YOU TURN THE CAR ON AND HAVE A PROBLEM SHUT IT OFF AND THE NEXT TIME THE CODES ARE CLEARED. I HAVE BEEN LIVING WITH THIS DAILY FOR A MONTH

ENGINE LIGHT AND SERVICE ENGINE SOON MESSAGE APPEARED. CAR STALLING AND WON'T ACCELERATE. TOOK TO VICTORY FORD IN KANSAS CITY AFTER 5 HOURS THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS OTHER THAN REPLACING THE SENSOR. HUNDRED AND $69 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS. I WAS OUT OF TOWN SO BABY. DID IT ALL THE WAY BACK HOME HAD A LOCAL DEALERSHIP PUT THE SENSOR IN. ANOTHER $74.. IN THE MEANTIME ENGINE CODE WOULD SPORADICALLY DISAPPEAR. AND REAPPEAR PERIOD FOR NO APPARENT REASON. HAD THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP CHECK THE CODE AGAIN KEEPS READING TURBO PROBLEMS. THEY'RE FORD MACHINE WAS DOWN SO I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP IN THE NEXT TOWN. SPECIFIC CODING SHOWED THAT IS A WIRING AND SPLICE PROBLEM. IN THE MEANTIME I'VE ALMOST BEEN RUN OVER SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE THE CAR WON'T ACCELERATE WHEN THE CODE IS THROWN. IF THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING HARNESS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER A RECALL WHICH I'VE BEEN TOLD IT IS NOT. AND TOMORROW DEALERSHIP IS REPLACING ALL OF THE SPLICING AND WIRING FOR ANOTHER $450. I'M AFRAID THAT THE PROBLEM MAY HAVE CAUSED OTHER ISSUES. BUT WON'T KNOW UNTIL AFTER THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM IS FIXED. I FEEL LIKE A COUPLE OF THE WIRING ISSUES THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED ALREADY SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED THIS. AND FORWARD SHOULD HAVE TO REIMBURSE ME FOR MY COST SINCE THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURE PROBLEM AND NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION THERE IS A WHIRRING SOUND I'VE BEEN TOLD IS DUE TO THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

I HAVE OWNED MY 2015 ESCAPE SINCE MARCH 2016. BEGINNING 6 WEEKS AGO THE CAR FAILED TO RECOGNIZE THE FORD KEY. HAD CAR TOWED. TOLD BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED BOTH CAR AND KEY FOB BATTERIES. WITHIN 7 DAYS THE CAR REFUSED TO START AFTER SITTING IN THE GARAGE FOR 3 DAYS. HAD TO GET IT TOWED AND THE BATTERY RECHARGED. THIRD TIME THE CAR REFUSED TO START IT HAD BEEN DRIVEN AND THEN LEFT SITTING FOR 5 DAYS. ONCE AGAIN HAD TO HAVE A JUMP START. TOOK INTO DEALERSHIP AND TOLD DIAGNOSTIC INFO STATES NO ISSUES. TECHNICIAN IS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE CAR REFUSING TO RECOGNIZE KEY FOB OR NOT STARTING. EXPLAINED THAT CAR ONCE JUMPED STARTED RUNS FINE AS LONG AS I DRIVE IT DAY TO DAY. ONCE IT HAS BEEN SITTING FOR 2 OR MORE DAYS DOES IT AGAIN REFUSE TO START. APPEARS THAT SOMETHING SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS PULLING ALL THE JUICE OUT OF THE BATTERY REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE ONBOARD COMPUTER SAYS. SECOND ISSUE WITH THIS CAR HAS BEEN THE REAR HATCH. TECHNICIAN INSPECTED THE REAR HINGES AND SAID THEY ARE BENT SO WHEN YOU CLOSE THE HATCH USING THE BUTTON ON THE HATCH OR KEY FOB, HATCH COMES DOWN BUT WON'T LATCH TIGHT AND GOES BACK OPEN. IF YOU MANUALLY SLAM THE HATCH SHUT, THE LATCH SEEMED TO BE TIGHT HOWEVER MY HATCH IS NOT SQUARE ANYMORE. IT IS TIGHT TO THE PASSENGER SIDE BUT HAS A 1/4 GAP ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHICH LETS IN AIR AND WATER INTO THE CAR. TOLD THAT I'D NEED TO HAVE A BODY SHOP TAKE THE HATCH OFF AND REPLACE BOTH HINGES. THIS CAR HAS NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT NOR HAS IT BEEN TREATED ROUGHLY SO EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THE HATCH GOT OUT OF ALIGNMENT TO THE POINT IT IS CAUSING ISSUES WITH SHUTTING TIGHTLY? THIS SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW WHERE THE HINGES INSTALLED ARE TOO LIGHT WEIGHT TO STAND UP TO NORMAL WEAR AND USAGE. LIVING IN THE UPPER MIDWEST THIS CAR IS EXPOSED TO WINTER WEATHER INCLUDING SALT AND ROAD SAND WHICH IN TURN CAN GET INTO OPEN SPACES AND RUST.
