I just had my car looked at by two different mechanics about rear differential. They told me those last the life of the car. So, they told me to look up recalls because that could be the issue. I only have 64000 miles on the car.

I had no acceleration for a few seconds and then it was kind of trying to go and it would lose it again. I had no acceleration for a few seconds and then it was kind of trying to go and it would lose it again. It corrected itself finally, but if that happens when I'm trying turn and a car is coming, that would be extremely dangerous. It has happened a couple times in the past. The first time it happened the powertrain malfunction indicator light came on. At that time, I pulled over and turned the car off for a bit and it corrected itself.

Rearview camera displays black distorted image. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The sensors do not appear to work as designed, which coupled with the distorted image allows for accidental backing if not careful. The problem has been acknowledged by FORD via recalls on other model years, but not the 2020. Manufacturer will inspect for a fee. Police and insurance have not been involved as there has been no accident with my vehicle. No warning signs or lamps illuminated to advise of this problem at any time. The camera first started displaying the distorted image last week, 15 June 2023.

Is it some sort of adaptive transmission issue or could it be something else? How do I find out without spending an arm and a leg after putting a great investment in purchasing this vehicle already? Any advice?

Driving down a private dirt road, at about 8mph the dash went red, alarms went off and almost instantly the car slammed on its own breaks. Nothing and nobody around. It scared me but i continued on. Not even 2 minutes later it did the exact same thing. Red dash, alarm, breaks. All before I could even register in my head what was happening. It was taken by rollback to the shop where we are being told “we can’t recreate the issue” Again, this was down a private lane no one and nothing around. I got out the 2nd time and observed under and around the car and there was NOTHING. If this were to occur on the road it could potentially put mine and my children’s lives in danger as they are almost always with me. I also have teens learning to drive and had this happened to them, it’s untelling what the consequences could have been. I am completely terrified to drive this car again.
The parts involved were lug nuts. I had a flat tire and was unable to remove/replace the flat because the lug wrench supplied with the car would not fit the nuts. The parts involved were lug nuts. I had a flat tire and was unable to remove/replace the flat because the lug wrench supplied with the car would not fit the nuts. Fortunately I had other tools available that I was able to use to remove the lug nuts otherwise I would have been stranded. When I went to a Ford service center I was informed that the lug nuts were swollen. They told me that this was a well known issue with Ford and that the lug nuts would have to be replaced. The cost to replace these lug nuts was over $200. Attached fine pictures of the lug nuts and receipt for work done. All the lug nuts were damaged by the service center in their efforts to remove them. The pictures attached are of the worst damage.

On September 23, 2020, Ford Motor Company (Ford) filed a noncompliance recall report under 49 CFR Part 573 (NHTSA Recall No. 20V-575), recalling 620,246 Model Year (MY) 2020 Ford F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, Explorer, Mustang, Transit, Expedition, Escape, Ranger and Edge, and Lincoln Nautilus and Corsair vehicles for a noncompliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 111, Rear Visibility. Ford's recall described the noncompliance as insufficient electrical conductivity within the printed circuit board (PCB) internal to the camera leading to intermittent rearview camera operation. The supplier of the cameras was Magna Electronics.According to Ford's chronology in the Part 573, during the period February-April 2020, Ford identified and monitored warranty claims pertaining to intermittent or inoperative rearview cameras. Ford reviewed supplier product changes, focusing on changes introduced by the supplier in the October-November 2019 time frame. The Part 573 stated that the issue was brought to Ford's Critical Concerns Review Group (CCRG) for review on May 12, 2020.On July 7, 2020, NHTSA's Vehicle Research and Testing Center (VRTC) informed the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) of a trend of MY 2020 Escape vehicles with rearview camera malfunctions. ODI contacted Ford the next day, providing five Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) alleging inoperative rearview cameras. On July 15, 2020, Ford met with NHTSA to discuss the rearview camera issue. In a subsequent August 24, 2020 meeting, ODI and NHTSA's Office of Vehicle Safety Compliance (OVSC) met with Ford to discuss the recall status and additional VOQs. Ford presented rate and scope data for many of its MY 2020 products during the August 2020 meeting indicating high failure rates for certain models. This RQ is being opened to investigate both the timeliness and scope of Ford's rearview camera recall (20V-575), and Ford's compliance with reporting requirements. The subject reports referenced in the opening resume are identified by the following ODI reference numbers which can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov: 11349813, 11344126, 11342696, 11341486, 11340254, 11337274, 11331444, 11330875, 11329235, 11316960, 11343521, 11341884, 11337226, 11344018, and 11339573.
