I could pay almost $300 for a diagnostic fee but nothing would be covered because their was a recall for the brake booster but that was back in 2013-2014. So I went to brakes plus, first they replaced the master cylinder then they replaced the brake booster a week later. Here I am 3 months later and the same issue.The vehicle randomly did not brake AGAIN. Got the vehicle back to brakes plus to have the vehicle looked at again. They replaced the brake booster under warranty then reached out to Ford who let them know the brake booster and brake lines are a know defect with the vehicle and I can have my vehicle looked at by them but I would need to pay the fee and nothing would be covered . How is this a known issue and nothing is covered? Ford checked my Vin and no vehicle recall. I reached out to Ford corporate and they created a case number: Cxh-09196123-F6m4z3 I am pregnant and I feel this car is dangerous if this is a known issue.

Just purchased this used vehicle from Orange Auto Connection in [XXX] on XXX. I thought the car wouldnt stop,. Thankfully it did without an accident . It has not returned to the normal breaking conditions. Today is XXX. I have to drive this car everyday as it is my only vehicle. I didn't buy an extended warranty from the dealer because I couldn't afford it. Why has this issue not become a safety recall. If I had known about this problem that has apparently been addressed years ago and had just expired in November 2025 prior to buying this car I wouldn't have purchased it. They are a lot of people including myself that live check to check and still struggle with every day necessities and potentially being faced with a heafty repair bill to fix a dangerous fault that manufacture knew about really causes sleepless nights and undo stress that they should not have to endure because they are afraid they will be hurt or hurt othera in an accident caused by a manufacture defect. I am submitting this letter to report a serious safety defect involving the brake system on my 2013 Ford Edge (VIN: [XXX]). The vehicle is experiencing a brake failure consistent with known ABS/HCU pump issues that have affected similar Ford Edge model years. On XXX, the vehicle was inspected at Randall Reed’s Planet Ford 635 in Garland, Texas. Service Advisor Luis Rodriguez confirmed the brake concern and provided a repair estimate of $3,500. The dealership indicated that the failure is related to the ABS/HCU system. The symptoms include: A spongy brake pedal Inconsistent brake pressure Reduced braking effectiveness Increased stopping distance Unpredictable brake response These symptoms match those described in Ford Recall 16C10, which addressed ABS/HCU pump failures on certain 2012–2014 Ford Edge vehicles. Although my VIN is not included in the recall, the failure pattern is identical and presents a clear safety hazard. I have contacted Ford Motor Company multiple times, including through executive escalation channels, but I have not received a response or assistance. Given the nature of this defect and its similarity to a previously acknowledged safety issue, I believe this may indicate a broader pattern that warrants investigation. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter to determine whether the existing recall should be expanded to include additional VINs or model ranges affected by the same ABS/HCU defect. They can't order the parts to fix my car and say over 1,500 are on back order. The car is undriveable with no brakes and creates a major safety risk. I have heard some dealers got Ford to provide a rental car. It is becoming a financial burden not having a car to drive for 10 months and Ford doesn't seem to have put out any recall or offer any help.

I am reporting a safety issue involving a 2013 Ford Edge Sport AWD related to progressive brake failure. The affected components include the brake booster and master cylinder. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request. In mid-2025, the vehicle developed a gradual loss of braking capability. The brake pedal required increasing force over time to bring the vehicle to a stop. Because the failure developed progressively rather than suddenly, the severity of the issue was not immediately apparent. At the time, the vehicle was primarily driven by my teenage son, a new driver, who continued operating the vehicle by pressing the brake pedal harder to compensate. This created a significant safety risk, as the vehicle did not reliably stop under normal braking conditions, increasing the risk of collision. The issue was confirmed by an independent mechanic, and repairs required replacement of the brake booster, master cylinder, and related components. The vehicle was later discussed with a Ford dealership; however, no warning of coverage or recall applicability was identified at that time. There were no clear warning lights or dashboard messages indicating brake system failure prior to the issue. The primary symptom was a progressive increase in required pedal force. After the repair, I learned that brake booster failure is a known issue for this vehicle platform and has been the subject of prior manufacturer service campaigns. I am concerned that this type of gradual brake degradation may not be recognized by drivers, particularly inexperienced drivers, and could result in unsafe operating conditions. The vehicle has also experienced repeated rear differential failures. Replacement parts are no longer manufactured by Ford, requiring use of used components with unknown condition and lifespan, further affecting vehicle reliability and safe operation. I have attached a receipt for the second time purchasing and replacing the rear differential.

I have a 2013 FORD Edge that the ABS module has gone out deeming the vehicle unsafe to drive. We have spoken to several FORD dealership team members and have all stated that the part should be recalled and the part is unavailable until sometime next year or later. We were told by FORD customer service, that in order to escalate the issue, then we needed to take to a dealership. We dropped the car off and never heard back from anyone and finally after many attempts to contact the dealership, I was finally able to get a team member on the line. They then tell us until we pay the diagnostic fees, they can't do anything. We were never told that from the start of the initial call and are back to square one. The car has no anti-lock brakes and is deemed unsafe to drive, please assist in anyway possible.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles manufactured September 2, 2010, to November 30, 2013; 2013-2014 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured August 25, 2011, to November 30, 2013; and 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles manufactured September 12, 2011, to November 30, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the halfshaft retention circlip may not have been properly installed, and as a result, the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving and without prior warning.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the halfshaft and linkshaft become disengaged while driving, power will no longer be transmitted to the wheels, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, if the parking brake is not applied before exiting the vehicle, the vehicle may roll away despite the transmission being placed in 'Park', increasing the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure that the halfshaft is properly retained. If it is not, dealers will replace the linkshaft and also replace the halfshaft if it shows evidence of spline damage, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S10.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Edge vehicles manufactured from September 2, 2010, through April 25, 2013, and equipped with 2.0L engines. The fuel line pulse damper metal housing may crack as a result of an improper manufacturing process. A cracked fuel line pulse damper housing may result in a combination of fuel odor, weepage, or a continuous leak while the fuel system is pressurized.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel line with one that does not have a damper, free of charge. The safety recall began on February 25, 2014. Owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 13S13. IMPORTANT: This recall supersedes recall 12V-438. All vehicles that have been remedied under the previous recall need to have the current remedy applied.
