When I attempt to brake, the brake is very stiff and hard to compress. It slows at a much slower rate than normal. Even when forcefully slamming on brakes it does not always engage. I have done research and found many other internet complaints with the same issues, so I believe it it is the brake power booster.
I would like to report the issue of failing brake boosters on 2010 Ford Edge SEL models. There are many complaints popping up in the past couple years and mine has gone as well.

The braking distance was also extended due to the failure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the manufacturer's Customer Satisfactory Campaign Number 13N02 which involved a faulty brake booster. The failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V158 (Air Bags) however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount time. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that she will be notified when parts are available. VIN tool confirms parts not available. Additionally, the contact stated that she heard a hissing noise when the brake pedal was depressed and without warning, more pressure had to be applied to the brake pedal to stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake booster and brake pads needed to be replaced. The brake pads were replaced however, the brake booster was not replaced. The manufacturer nor the dealer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately. 192,000

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Ranger, 2006-2012 Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr, Lincoln MKZ, 2006-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2010 Ford Edge, and Lincoln MKX vehicles. The driver's side air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side airbag inflator or module with an alternate one, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 9, 2021 for the passenger side, and November 14, 2022 for the driver side. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured September 11, 2008, to July 1, 2010, and Lincoln MKX vehicles manufactured September 23, 2008, to July 1, 2010, originally sold in, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. Due to corrosion from salt water exposure such as from road salt use, the affected vehicles may leak fuel from the fuel tank seam weld under the tank mounting reinforcement brackets.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and either clean and treat the fuel tank with a corrosion preventative or replace the tank, free of charge.
