TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FLEETWOOD BOUNDER. UPON TURNING THE KEY, THE STARTER CRANKED BUT THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED WHEN IT WAS NOTICED THAT THERE WAS EXCESSIVE FUEL LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT SQUIRRELS CHEWED THE FUEL LINES AND FURTHER TESTING WAS REQUIRED TO DETERMINE IF THEY COULD PROVIDE A SOLUTION TO PREVENT THE FAILURE. THE DEALER MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE MAY HAVE IMPACTED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
REV Recreation Group (REV) is recalling certain 2013-2015 Fleetwood Bounder and 2013-2016 Fleetwood Southwind recreational vehicles. The welds attaching the battery tray may be insufficient. As a result, the tray may separate from underneath the chassis.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An unsecured battery tray can cause a battery acid leak or an electrical short, increasing the risk of a fire or injury.
Remedy: REV will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the battery tray, and install fasteners, if necessary, to secure the battery tray, free of charge. The recall began on November 17, 2017. Owners may contact REV customer service at 1-800-509-3417. REV's number for this recall is 170914REV.
