ON JULY 6TH, 2018 ABOUT 11:30 AM, I EXPERIENCED A FRONT PASSENGER BLOWOUT ON MY 2016 CLASS A MOTORHOME. MY RV WAS EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR G670 TIRES 295/80R22.5 THAT CAME ON IT AT PURCHASE. TRAVELING EAST ON I-10 JUST BEFORE BAYTOWN, TEXAS. DRIVING AT 62 MPH ON A DRY SUNNY DAY THE TIRE BLEW. NEITHER MY WIFE NOR I WERE INJURED BUT, THE EXPERIENCE WILL LAST A LIFE TIME, THE TIRE SHOWED NO SIGNS OF OUTER DAMAGE AND I ONLY HAD JUST OVER 20K MILES ON THE TIRES. THE BLOWOUT CAUSE THE RV TO STEER HARD AND FAST RIGHT SENDING THE RV ACROSS ONE LANE AS I FOUGHT TO KEEP IT FROM STRAIGHT. IT LEFT THE FREEWAY HEADING ACROSS THE DITCH TO THE ON COMING TRAFFIC OF THE FRONTAGE ROAD. IN MY FIGHT TO MAINTAIN CONTROL, I WAS ABLE TO BRING IT TO A STOP DOWN THE CENTER OF A DITCH. ONCE THE RV WAS RECURRED, TIRE REMOVE I TOOK WHAT WAS LEFT TO THE GOODYEAR SERVICE CENTER IN BAYTOWN ON I-10 TO MAKE A CLAIM. NOT HEARING FROM THEM AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME, I VISITED THE CENTER AND MADE 2 CALLS OF INQUIRY. TODAY IS APRIL 1ST, 2019 AND HAVE HEARD NOTHING FROM THE CENTER OR GOODYEAR. THE BLOWOUT DAMAGE COST OVER 60K DOLLARS.
I HAVE SEEN THAT THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION INTO OUR GOODYEAR STEER TIRES ON OUT MOTORCOACHES BECAUSE OF BLOWOUTS! THE WEIGHT RATING ON THESE TIRES FOR THE WEIGHT CARRIED UP FRONT IS AT LIMIT OR OVER! I HAVE SCALED MINE RIGHT AFTER PURCHASE AND WAS SLIGHTLY OVER TIRE WEIGHT RATING! ENTEGRA REALIZED THERE MISTAKE INTO LATER YEARS …

ENTEGRA REALIZED THERE MISTAKE INTO LATER YEARS AND CHANGED TO A HIGHER WEIGHT RATED TIRE. I BELIEVE THE NHTSA SHOULD HAVE MADE THEM CHANGE THESE TIRES AND NO HIGHWAY DEATHS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. IF I WOULD HAVE PUT UNDERRATED TIRES ONTO OUR TRUCKING COMPANY TRUCKS AND CAUSED HIGHWAY FATALITY YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN. COME ON GUYS, THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL!
