TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DUTCHMEN GRAND JUNCTION TRAILER. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 45-50 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BY OTHER MOTORISTS. IMMEDIATELY, THE DRIVER PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A TRAILER SPARE TIRE. THE OTHER THREE TIRES EXHIBITED DEFECTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE SHOP AND ALL FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TIRE FAILURES AND DEFECTS WERE CONTRIBUTED TO BOTH FRONT AND REAR SPRING HANGERS DETACHING FROM THE FRAME. THE ORIGINAL COMPONENT'S STRENGTH LEVEL WAS INSUFFICIENT; HOWEVER, THE REPLACEMENT COMPONENT WAS SUFFICIENT FOR THE REPAIR REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT APPLICABLE.
Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling various 2003-2018 Crossroads, Dutchmen, and Keystone recreational trailers equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V755-5127.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf
