THIS CAUSED THE BIKE TO BECOME UNRIDEABLE DUE TO THE FEAR OF THE GAS TANK FALLING OFF OR INTERFERING WITH THE HANDLEBARS.

THE GAS TANK ON DUCATI SPORT CLASSIC MOTORCYCLES SPREADS SIDE TO SIDE TO THE POINT THAT THE RUBBER POLKS ON THE SIDES OF THE POLY CARBONATE TANK ARE NO LONGER IN THE METAL TANGS ON THE FRONT OF THE FRAME. THIS IN EFFECT RELEASES THE FRONT OF THE TANK ALLOWING IT TO "FLOP AROUND". AT THIS POINT THE TANK IS HELD ON BY ONE BOLT ON THE REAR OF THE TANK. DUCATI'S RESPONSE IS TO REPLACE THE TANK WITH EXACTLY THE SAME TANK, WHICH AGAIN SPREADS IN THE SAME WAY. I AM AWAITING MY THIRD TANK CURRENTLY. *TR

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FASTENERS FROM THE FUEL LINE TO THE FUEL FILLER WERE NOT TIGHTENED PROPERLY. THE FUEL PUMP HOSE INSIDE THE FUEL TANK MAY SEPARATE FROM THE FUEL FILTER. THIS CONDITION WILL STOP THE ENGINE FROM RUNNING.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IF THE ENGINE STOPPED WHILE THE MOTORCYCLE WAS BEING DRIVEN, IT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP TO FUEL FILTER HOSE AND FASTENERS TO PREVENT THE ENGINE FROM STOPPING. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 21, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DUCATI AT 1-800-424-9153.
