Driving along I-40, 15 miles West of Winslow Arizona, the tire pressure monitor system had a sudden temperature increase on one tire and then all of a sudden boom, the tire blew out. I slowed down and took the next exit ramp, approximately 400 yards, I began to investigate and noticed that the brake caliper had come loose and wedged on the inside of the rim. This caused friction between the caliper and rim and that is where the excess heat came from. The bleeder valve was also damaged and leaking brake fluid and rendered the trailer brakes ineffective. The brake system is held into place by two flimsy metal tabs that become bent during normal use of the braking system. I believe this to be an ongoing problem with the DRV fifth wheel travel trailers and it is very dangerous. My trailer has approximately 3000 miles on it and was purchased new around 6 months ago.

the brake caliper retaining clips bent and aloud the brake caliper to come loose and ride up and come in contact with the tire rim and grind it and cause the tire to blow out. there is a recall on these retaining clips and they were replaced by myself in 11/ 2021 then replaced again by DRV the manufacturer of the rv in 01/2022 .Now it has happened again on the same axle 10/2022. yes this was inspected by the RV manufacturer in January of 2022 but has not been adressed this time as of yet. this is a major safety issue no braking on that wheel plus tire blow out. there are no warning sign as to this happening. the only warning possible is if you have a tire pressure monitering system and it shows the hi temperature of the tire while the caliper grinds the wheel away
