I purchased this 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona new on March 24, 2026. Shortly after purchase, the vehicle began experiencing repeated serious safety-related electrical and propulsion failures. The most concerning incidents involve sudden loss of propulsion/power while driving. On one occasion, the vehicle lost propulsion while I was traveling on the freeway, leaving me in active traffic unable to accelerate normally and creating a serious risk of a collision. I also experienced an incident involving abnormal/unintended acceleration where I did not have normal control over the vehicle's acceleration, creating an additional safety concern. The vehicle has also failed to start, displayed Service Electric Vehicle System/red wrench warnings, experienced charging failures, and entered reduced-power conditions. The vehicle first entered a Dodge dealer for these problems on April 23, 2026 at only 1,163 miles. The repair record states the vehicle would not start for approximately 20 minutes, would sometimes turn off while driving, had drastic range loss, and had trouble charging. It remained at the dealer until June 1. The vehicle returned for repeated loss-of-power concerns. During a June repair visit, it was towed to the dealership following another loss-of-power complaint. Dodge opened a STAR engineering case and a field engineer became involved. Additional faults have included a red wrench warning, front wheel-hub disconnect faults and a condition restricting the vehicle to approximately 60 mph. The vehicle later returned with a Service Electric Vehicle System warning and no power, and has continued experiencing charging/electrical failures. Repeated dealership repair attempts and software updates, the problems have continued. Is has accumulated over 130 days out of service despite having approximately only 2,000 miles. Concerned that another sudden loss of propulsion or acceleration-control event could occur without warning at highway speeds. Available for inspection.

Serious Loss-of-Propulsion Safety Incident Shortly before [XXX], [XXX] was driving on [XXX], a divided four-lane roadway. [XXX] entered the designated left-turn lane intending to cross two lanes of oncoming traffic and enter a shopping center. After allowing approaching vehicles to clear and determining that he had sufficient distance to safely complete the turn, [XXX] accelerated into the intersection. While he was crossing the oncoming lanes, the vehicle suddenly displayed a large warning accompanied by a red triangle stating: “STOP SAFELY VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF SOON.” The vehicle then lost normal propulsion and effectively stopped in the middle of the roadway while oncoming traffic was approaching. [XXX] pressed the accelerator completely to the floor. The vehicle responded only by moving forward at a slow crawl. [XXX] was ultimately able to clear the roadway before being struck. The vehicle has experienced repeated failures of its electrical, high-voltage propulsion, charging, and starting systems. Beginning in November 2025, the vehicle intermittently failed to start, shut down while idling, displayed a “Service Charging System” message, and would not properly request energy when plugged in. During a subsequent repair visit, the customer reported an electrical-system message, failure to start, and that the vehicle would turn off by itself while driving. The authorized dealer performed extensive diagnostics, documented numerous high-voltage and electrical fault codes, consulted manufacturer technical assistance, and ultimately replaced the rear electric drive motor. Despite these repairs, the same or substantially similar problems have returned. The unexpected shutdown while driving presents a serious safety hazard because of the potential for sudden loss of propulsion in traffic. The vehicle is available for inspection.

As I pulled out of my driveway, my vehicle’s accelerator failed to respond to my input. The braking system worked flawlessly, with no delay in response. However, when I attempted to accelerate in either forward or reverse, the vehicle took approximately 3–5 seconds to respond to my input. This is a major safety issue.

On August 15, 2026, my 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T became inoperable while being used on a public roadway. The vehicle could no longer be operated normally, leaving me stranded and requiring Dodge/Mopar Roadside Assistance. The vehicle entered an abnormal electrical/operating state and would not return to normal operation. Because I could not safely continue driving, I requested roadside assistance. The vehicle had to be transported to an authorized Dodge dealership. The vehicle was delivered after normal service hours on Saturday night and was left through the dealership’s after-hours/night-drop procedure for diagnosis when the service department reopens. This created a safety concern because the vehicle unexpectedly became disabled on a public roadway, creating a potential collision risk to the occupants and surrounding motorists. The vehicle has approximately 2,500 miles and had already required two prior warranty/service visits involving service-warning or service-light conditions within its first approximately 2,500 miles. The cause of this failure has not yet been determined. I do not want to speculate about the failed component before the authorized Dodge dealer completes diagnosis. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and is available for inspection. Dodge/Mopar Roadside Assistance and towing records document the incident and transport to the dealership. I am reporting this because a nearly new electric vehicle unexpectedly became inoperable during roadway use and required roadside assistance and towing. I am concerned about a possible electrical, propulsion, control-system, or software-related defect that could cause unexpected vehicle disablement.

While driving on Route 130 in New Jersey on 7/6/26 at around noon I encountered a heavy rain storm. During this downpour I received warning messages about the emergency hood release being activated and that the car was entering limp mode with reduced propulsion. My car slowed to a crawl, luckily everyone was going slower thanks to the heavy rain and I was able to pull over to attempt to close the hood. It took around ten tries but I was finally able to get it to shut so I could drive home safely. This has happened before after a car wash so I suspect that there is some sort of electrical issue or short causing the hood to release when exposed to water.

I was driving on a slower speed road and felt a jerk, my car lurched forward a little and I got a bunch various errors for break regen system, front park sense errors and a few other random faults. The car entered "turtle mode" signified by the turtle icon in my gauge cluster. This is the second time this has randomly happened, the first time happened two weeks prior as I was taking an off ramp off a highway. I have taken this vehicle in for repairs and updates before for unrelated issues but there hasn't been any solid solutions to the other various software issues with this vehicle. This is a major safety concern because I have not been able to reliably replicate this, my speed and control over acceleration is cut and not within my control fully. I am worried that this could occur when I'm at higher speeds. I have been able to safely park and turn the vehicle off and back on so it hasn't been inspected by police or anyone just yet due to no accidents occurring, only dealerships.

After doing some grocery shopping for about 20–30 minutes, I returned to my vehicle, put it in drive, pressed the accelerator, and received no response for approximately 3 to 4 seconds. I then pressed the brake and experienced the exact same issue — no response from the system for about 3 to 4 seconds. I decided to shut the vehicle down, wait approximately 10 seconds, and restart it. After restarting, the brake responded immediately (as expected), but there was still a significant delay from the accelerator of about 3 to 4 seconds. I then drove to another parking lot approximately 0.2 miles down the road, parked the vehicle, walked around the store for another 20 minutes, and returned to the vehicle. At that point, everything worked as intended. The accelerator and braking systems both responded properly. On Monday, May 11, I went to the Carvana Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram location in [XXX] , where I was informed by the Service Manager that they would likely need to keep the vehicle for over a month to troubleshoot the issue with Chrysler before they could attempt a resolution, since the entire electrical system is effectively locked down and controlled by FCA electrical engineers. Also, a loaner was not an option if they kept the vehicle. Less than 5,000 miles on this vehicle with clearly a critical issue and almost no attempt to help the customer. To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a serious safety malfunction involving my 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T Stage 1 EV. This incident has caused significant property damage. I arrived home and pulled into my driveway as I routinely do. I opened my garage door and waited for it to fully open before slowly pulling my vehicle into the garage. As soon as the car was positioned in the garage — a maneuver I have performed many times — the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly experienced rapid acceleration without warning. The acceleration was forceful and immediate. The vehicle propelled itself through the back wall of my garage, destroying the wall and items stored there, went airborne, and landed further out into my yard. The entire incident occurred so quickly that I was stunned and had no opportunity to react. Fortunately, I was not physically injured, but the outcome could easily have been catastrophic. The rear wall of my garage was completely destroyed, and my vehicle sustained extensive body damage. My car has been at the dealership, for approximately six weeks awaiting replacement body panels. While my insurance company has handled the property repairs efficiently, I continue to make payments on a vehicle that experienced a frightening malfunction through no fault of my own. My insurance has agreed to the supplemental estimate and committed to payment. But there are body panels that don't even have an ETA. So, I may be waiting for and making payments on a vehicle that I won't feel safe driving. After the incident, once I had time to process what occurred, I researched similar events involving this same vehicle model. I found multiple reports describing nearly identical scenarios, including unintended rapid acceleration while preparing to park. One report described a Dodge Charger Daytona EV accelerating through hedges into the road causing a 3 car crash.

I leased a brand-new 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona EV. About 2 weeks after receiving the vehicle, a severe and dangerous incident occurred. I had driven approximately 2 miles at normal residential speeds with my baby in the back seat. After parking and walking toward the entrance of the home, I turned around and saw both rear wheels glowing bright red, radiating extreme heat, as if they were about to ignite. The temperature was so high that when I poured water onto the wheels, it instantly evaporated into steam. It appeared the back end of the vehicle was on the verge of catching fire. This happened during normal, low-speed driving with an infant in the vehicle, creating a direct and immediate risk to my child’s safety. This was not caused by hard braking, aggressive driving, or any impact. The vehicle had very low mileage and was being operated under normal conditions. In addition to this near-fire thermal event, the vehicle has multiple serious electrical malfunctions: • The key fob frequently fails to unlock the doors or open the trunk, leaving us stuck outside the vehicle. • The vehicle sometimes remains powered “on” even after pressing the button to shut it off. • These issues are unpredictable and raise further safety concerns. I reported the incident to Dodge/Stellantis immediately. For over 4 weeks, Dodge has repeatedly delayed sending an inspector, and the vehicle still has not been examined. Because of the overheating, electrical failures, and the risk of fire — especially with a child in the vehicle — I have stopped driving the car entirely. It is unsafe to operate. This appears to be a major defect related to the EV propulsion system, electrical system, braking or drag, and/or thermal management system. I have video evidence of the event and the vehicle is available for inspection.
