I am reporting an ongoing electrical/charging system problem with my 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T. During August 2026 alone, my vehicle has been taken to the Dodge dealership four times for electrical-related problems, recalls, software updates, and/or repairs. Most recently, on August 14, 2026, I picked the vehicle up from the dealership after it had been serviced. While driving home from the dealership, the vehicle displayed a red electrical plug warning along with the message “SERVICE CHARGING SYSTEM.” I have a photograph documenting the warning. This is particularly concerning because the vehicle had just been returned to me as serviced/repaired, yet another charging/electrical-system warning appeared before I could even make it home. The vehicle has experienced repeated electrical-related issues requiring multiple dealership visits within a very short period of time. I am concerned about the reliability and safety of the vehicle’s electrical and high-voltage charging systems, especially because the problems continue despite repeated dealership service. I am requesting that NHTSA document and review this complaint for a possible recurring electrical or charging-system defect affecting the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona. I am also retaining all available photographs, dealership repair orders, service records, recall/update documentation, and dates the vehicle has been out of service.

The contact leased a 2024 Dodge Charger EV. The contact stated that after the passenger’s side rear tire became deflated, the vehicle was taken to a tire shop, and the contact was informed that there was severe inner tire wear that had caused the tire to deflate. The technician stated that the tires were cambered inward while driving due to the weight of the vehicle. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact discovered that all four tires exhibited the same failure. The flat tire was re-inflated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, and the dealer was informed of the failure. The dealer stated that the tires need to be replaced; however, the contact declined to pay for the repair. The tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The tire and vehicle failure mileage was approximately 13,600.

The only fix was for it to be towed to a dealer who was able to disconnect the 12V battery and reconnect it. This allowed it to run but in a reduced capacity. One week later, it was bricked again. I had it towed to another dealership who replaced that battery. The battery was faulty and was causing the car to not get receive updates. Since then, this issue has happened one more time and I was able to "reset" the car by walking away for 15 minutes, allowing the computer to turn off then try again.

Since owning this car, I have experienced frequent software related problems of which has left me stranded (3) three times with one time requiring a tow to the dealership for service. As well, my Charger has been in the shop 6 times for both software related and part failure related issues. The list of parts to date that have required replacement are: 120V battery and amp for factory exhaust system. Software related problems have included: not starting, not recognizing key fob to enter vehicle, vehicle error and check engine light and other warning lights such as the SOS system being offline. It has bricked 4 times. It has also made unexplained noises such as a knocking noise on start up which the manufacture said was normal, but the dealership service department didn’t agree. The Dick Poe Service Departments communication with Stellantis engineers have fixed each software and part issue only to have the same issues present themselves weeks and months at a time. I am a [XXX] XXX. The constant problems with this vehicle have worsened my PTDS symptoms due to the constant issues, problems, and required work. Vehicle is currently at Dick Poe Dodge Jeep Service this morning (6/1/2026) because the vehicle will not charge as well as not recognizing the key fob for entry/ exit, software updates, and an instrument cluster recall. The vehicle was completely dead on the morning of 2/24/2026. Following the proper jumping procedure, the vehicle was jumped to restore power. A message on the dash stated to "check charging system". This message is generic in nature and usually indicates a 12V battery problem. The vehicle was left on and then plugged in to a Level 2 EV charger. The vehicle then caught fire and destroyed our detached garage. Stellantis did send an independent investigator who indicated that the fire likely started on the front right of the vehicle. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? UKNOWN How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Vehicle caught fire with no warning. If our garage was not detached, we would have lost our home. Others are at risk if this is a design defect. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? In early September 2025, I leased a 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV. Unfortunately, the vehicle has already been in the dealership service department three separate times since I took delivery. The first two service visits occurred after the vehicle completely bricked and would not turn on. I was informed that the vehicle’s electronic module required updating and that the batteries had repeatedly died. Most recently, the situation has escalated to a significant safety concern. Earlier this week, the vehicle began shaking and intermittently accelerating and decelerating on its own while in operation(I have video proof of this) This behavior poses a serious danger to me and to others on the road. Due to these ongoing issues, I filed a formal complaint with Stellantis and was assigned case number [XXX]. I have been working with Stellantis representative Steve Stander; however, communication has been extremely difficult. Unfortunately, Mr. Stander has not been responsive to phone calls or emails in a timely manner, which has made resolving this matter challenging. At this time, the vehicle is once again in the shop, leaving me without transportation. During our last discussion, Mr. Stander acknowledged that Stellantis understands the vehicle is not dependable and offered $10,000 in down payment assistance along with employee pricing on a new Stellantis product. However, I currently still owe approximately $3,400 on the lease. Given the serious safety issues and repeated failures of the vehicle, I am requesting Stellantis’ assistance in grounding the lease and covering the remaining $3,400 balance so that I may exit this lease. I also previously sent Mr. Stander a video clearly showing the vehicle accelerating on its own to document the issue. I would greatly appreciate your help in resolving this matter as quickly as possible. It is urgent that I be able to safely exit this vehicle situation.
