TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 COLUMBIA ALINER CLASSIC TRAILER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PULL TO THE LEFT. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR TRAILER AXLE FRACTURED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO PULL THE LEFT AND EXIT THE ROADWAY. THE FRACTURE CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE FAULTY AXLE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE PART BEING ON A MASSIVE BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,500. ...UPDATED 07-15-13 *BF

COLUMBIA NORTHWEST IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009 AND 2010 CAMPING TRAILERS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN JANUARY AND AUGUST 2009 EQUIPPED WITH THE "IN-OUT 2-BURNER STOVE". UNDER EXTENDED USE, A PROPANE HOSE FITTING MAY FAIL AND LEAK.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: FAILURE OF THE HOSE FITTING COULD CAUSE A FIRE IN THE STOVE HOUSING INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY.

Remedy: COLUMBIA NORTHWEST WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL EITHER REPLACE THE ENTIRE PORTABLE IN-OUR 2-BURNER STOVE OR REPLACE THE INTERNAL COMPONENT FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 6, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT COLUMBIA NORTHWEST AT 1-724-423-7440.
