The contact owns a 1993 N/A Chrysler New Yorker. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing longer braking distances and that the ABS and check brakes warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer and was unable to determine the cause of the failure because the dealer did not have the proper tool for the diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 96V099000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact stated that there was an extended warranty for the ABS components for 10 YEARS/100,000 MILES, except for the brake actuator piston assembly and the pump-motor assembly. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,300.
