QUESTIONING THE DEALER ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND NOT GETTING ANYWHERE I TALKED TO DIFFERENT MECHANICS THAT I KNOW AFTER A WEEK OR SO IT WAS DISCOVERED THERE WAS A RECAL FOR INSUFFCIENT HEAT TREATED REAR AXLES TALKING TO THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THIS DID NOT PERTAIN TO MY VEHICLE AS THE RECALL WAS TAKEN CARE OF AT THE FACTORY. I CANTACTED CHEVROLET AND WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE I HAD GIVEN THE OK FOR THE DEALER TO MAKE THE REPAIRS. MY INSURANCE COMPANY WOULD NEED TO FOLE PAPER WORK AGAINST CHEVROLET WHICH MYSELF I BELIEVE IS WRONG . I WAS ALSO TOLD BY THE DEALER BROKEN AXLE WAS TYPICAL OF THIS KIND OF IMPACT. While entering the vehicle, the seat belt tensioner cable may be positioned such that the driver slides over it. This movement may result in the fatigue and separation of the cable.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the tensioner cable separates, the driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will modify the vehicles to prevent the tensioner from being damaged. Any tensioner that has already been damaged will be replaced, free of charge. In the affected vehicles, the ignition lock actuator may bind, making turning the key difficult or causing the ignition to get stuck in the "Start" position.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If stuck in the "Start" position, the ignition may suddenly snap back into the "Accessory" position, causing a loss of engine, steering, and braking power, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. If the vehicle is in a crash, the air bags may not deploy, increasing the risk of occupant injury.

If the transfer case switches to neutral while the vehicle is being driven, the vehicle would lose drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
