On approximately January 24, 2026 my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD equipped with the 6.6 Duramax Diesel displayed an error code (P20B9). This error code was found to be related to the diesel exhaust fluid system specifically relating to "Reductant Heater A Control Circuit/Open." On January 27, 2026, the vehicle was diagnosed at Chevrolet dealership and the following was reported "Diesel Emissions Fluid Tank Remove and Replace - P20B9 SET FOR REDUCTANT HEATER CIRCUIT...COMMANDED ON AND ZERO AMPS..CIRCUITFAILURE... DISCONNECT PUMP MODULE AND BURNED/OVERHEATED TERMINALS..PUMP MODULE AND HARNESS PART OF TANK ASSEMBLY... LABOR TIME ADDED TO PERFORM MALFUNCTION/TAMPER TEST TO CLEAR EMISSIONS MESSAGE...." I found the "burned/overheated terminals" comment to be alarming. I looked into this matter further and found a GM Service Bulletin (21-NA-006) from October 2022. This bulletin identified this issue which contained an image showing burned/overheated terminals. The identified cause within the bulletin states "This condition may be caused by a poor connection at the Emission Reduction Fluid Tank electrical connector." I believe this should upgraded to a safety recall due the the potential of this terminal connection catching fire which could be detrimental for the operator, passengers, property, and the public.

My 2020 Silverado HD truck requires a replacement wiring harness and DEF tank and is basically inoperable. This is a known issue for GM and spans multiple model years.GM continued to produce throughout multiple model years knowing that owners may be stranded and unable to use these vehicles because of the defective parts. Hardships for owners would include loss of income and exposure to various dangerous conditions. The DEF tank has a heater system that can get exposed to the DEF fluid because of a poor design and poor manufacturing standards resulting in short circuit. GM will replace the wiring harness and combination tank/heater assembly under warranty. The parts are supposedly on NATIONAL BACK ORDER, yet GM continues to manufacture and ship new 2022 models with the required parts needed for repairs. GM will not provide alternate transportation. Supposedly in excess of ten thousand trucks are affected. Warm climate owners and warm temperatures may affect this issue positively. GM has no policy for a timely response to this issue. Trucks will become unsafe to operate when the electronic controls limit the truck speed to 5 mph or less. An operator may become stranded and exposed to dangerous highway conditions if stranded with this issue.

The DEF heater/tank shorted out. The DEF system has thrown a code 3 times in the little over a year I’ve owned the truck. This final time I was told that the tank needs to be replaced. The truck has now been in the shop for 2 months and there is still no ship date on the replacement tank. The tanks are on a national back order. From what I understand there are about 9,000 people waiting for this DEF tank countrywide. I now have a $60k work truck that I am paying for but cannot use with no reasonable end in sight.

I THEN SCHEDULED TO HAVE IT TAKEN IN AGAIN AND FOUND OUT THAT THE FUEL CONTROL MODULE ON SEVERAL OTHER GM VEHICLES WHERE FAULTY ON NEW VEHICLES. THEN AGAIN ON THE OCTOBER 20TH, 2020 THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. AFTER CHANGING OUT THE RELAY SWITCH IT SEEMED TO RESET THE SYSTEM AND STARTS AND RUNS FINE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF. I WORK IN EMERGENCY SERVICES AND NEED MY TRUCK TO RUN WHEN I TURN THE KEY OVER. THERE'S NO COMMON FACTOR LEADING TO THIS LACK OF TURNING OVER. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles equipped with power-unlatching tailgates. The tailgate's electronic gate-release switch may short circuit due to water intrusion, which can result in the tailgate inadvertently unlatching while the vehicle is in park.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: An unlatched tailgate may open while driving and result in a loss of unsecured cargo, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Owners are advised to check that the tailgate is closed and latched before driving. Dealers will replace the exterior touchpad switch assemblies, free of charge. General Motors, LLC. (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and GMC Sierra 2500 vehicles equipped with a 17" spare tire (RPO ZHQ or ZXT) and either the 20" accessory road tire (RPO REM) or the 18" accessory road tire (RPO Q2V). Operating the spare tire with other 20" or 18" tires can prevent the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) from engaging.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: An ABS system that cannot control the rear wheels independently increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will provide the appropriate spare tire and apply a new spare tire information label, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 18, 2021. The seat belt brackets may not be secured to the seat frame in the front-row center seating position.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If a seat-belt bracket is not secured, the seat belt may not properly restrain an occupant in the front-row center seat position, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect left-side and right-side front-row center seat-belt bracket attachments and reassemble it correctly as necessary, free of charge. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 and 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 trucks. One of the driveshaft joints may not have been properly welded, causing the driveshaft to separate while the vehicle is moving.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the driveshaft separates, there may be a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of crash.

General Motors, LLC. (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT5 and XT6, Chevrolet Blazer, Silverado 1500, 2500 and 3500 and Traverse and GMC Acadia and Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 vehicles. The diffuser component of the Roof-Rail Air Bag (RRAB) inflator may not have been properly crimped to the inflator and could separate from the inflator during air bag deployment.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the diffuser separates from the inflator during deployment, RRAB performance may be degraded, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the suspect RRAB modules, free of charge. The recall began September 3, 2020. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles previously recalled under 20V-142. Some of the vehicles in 20V-324 were not part of Recall 20V-142 but received defect parts during another service (typically during collision repair). The hood-latch striker wires on replacement hoods installed for Safety Recall 20V-142 may not have been heat-treated properly, possibly causing them to fracture.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If a striker wire fractures, the hood may open unexpectedly while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the hood assembly, free of charge. For hoods sold over the counter, dealers will contact customers with instructions for hood replacement. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, and 2020 Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, Sierra 2500, and Sierra 3500 vehicles equipped with carpet floor covering. When the front seat belt pretensioners deploy, hot gas may vent through an opening in the pretensioner bracket, possibly igniting the carpet.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A vehicle fire could result if materials ignite inside the vehicle.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will close off the opening in the pretensioner bracket, free of charge. The recall began December 13, 2019.
