MY CAR HAD LESS THAN 60,000 MILES ON IT WHEN IT FIRST SAID SERVICE SIDE DETECTION, NOW I NO LONGER HAVE BLIND SPOT DETECTION, FRONT CAMERA OR ANY OF THE OTHER SAFETY FEATURES I PAID EXTRA TO HAVE. ITS BECAUSE THE COMPUTER FOR IT IS PLACED NON WEATHER PROTECTED IN THE BUMPER OF THE CAR AND AFTER IT GETS EXPOSED TO OUR WEATHER IT RUINS IT. IT'S A PRICEY FIX THAT WILL JUST KEEP GETTING RUINED. ITS A FAULTY ERROR ON CHEVYS END THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED. WHEN MINE FIRST WENT OUT I READ ABOUT MANY OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, I JUST KEEP WAITING HOPING THAT CHEVY WILL STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING. THIS IS MY 3RD IMPALA I HAVE OWNED, I ALWAYS SWORE THEY WOULD BE MY ONLY CAR BUT NOW THIS WILL BE MY LAST IMPALA I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER ONE. WAY TOO MANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS.

OCCASIONALLY THE DASH AND RADIO GO ALL BLACK, GETTING NO POWER. WHEN OPENING OR CLOSING SUNROOF, IT WILL STOP IN THE MIDDLE. IT EITHER STOPS COMPLETELY OR WILL STOP AND GO IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION AS THE BUTTON PUSHED. WHEN STEPPING ON THE BRAKE TO PUSH START, THE BRAKE GETS SUPER HARD AND THE DASH PANEL WILL SAY, 'PRESS BRAKE TO START.' I AM PRESSING THE BRAKE! MOST RECENTLY, 'SIDE DETECTION' IS DISPLAYING ON DASH PANEL AND BLIND SPOT LIGHTS ARE NOT LIGHTING UP ON MIRRORS. I'VE READ A NUMBER OF SIMILAR ISSUES ONLINE WITH THE SAME YEAR. I HAD THIS CAR BACK 7X FOR WATER GETTING IN THE TRUNK. IT LAYS WHERE THE SPARE TIRE IS AND THE CARPET ABOVE IS NEVER WET. EVERY-TIME THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS SOMETHING DIFFERENT. OH AND IT STILL IS GETTING WATER IN THE TRUNK. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO! JUST YESTERDAY I WAS STOPED AT A RED LIGHT AND IT SOUNDED AND FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS GOING TO SHUT DOWN. THEN IT GAINED POWER JUST AS FAST. MY CAR ONLY HAS 27,000 MILES AND A LOT OF PROBLEMS.

I HAVE A WARNING ON THE MESSAGE CENTER ASKING TO "SERVICE SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM" I'M FINDING THAT THE LIGHTS ON THE MIRROR WILL SOMETIMES COME ON QUICKLY FOR ONLY A SECOND OR TWO AND THEN SHUT OFF. THEY ARE DOING THIS ON RANDOM OCCASIONS AND OBVIOUSLY NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I FOUND SOME WEBSITES SHOWING WHERE THESE MONITORS ARE AND HAVE FOUND THAT MINE ARE COVERED IN DIRT AND SEEM TO HAVE THE DRIED SALT "WHITE" CRUST ON THEM. MY GUESS, JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IS THAT THEY ARE CORRODED AND NEED REPLACING. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT NEEDS LOOKING INTO AS THIS CLEARLY IS A SAFETY CONCERN.

15V465000 · Air Bags

Jul 24, 2015

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala vehicles manufactured April 15, 2013, to June 19, 2015, equipped with front vented-heated passenger seats. Accordingly, the Automatic Occupant Sensing (AOS) system may fail to suppress the front passenger air bag if a child seat is in the front passenger seat. These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the front passenger air bag deploys with a child seat in the front passenger seat, it increases the risk of injury to the child.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will correct the calibration-learning error by preconditioning the empty seat, and also resetting the ECU to a seat zero-value, free of charge. The recall began on August 25, 2015. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 15400.

14V541000 · Parking Brake

Sep 9, 2014

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Cadillac XTS vehicles manufactured February 14, 2012, to August 22, 2014, and 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala vehicles manufactured November 5, 2012, to September 2, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the electronic parking brake piston actuation arm may not fully retract causing the brake pads to stay partially engaged.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Brake pads that remain partially engaged with the rotors may cause excessive brake heat that may result in a fire.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the electronic parking brake software, free of charge. The recall began on October 28, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 14471.

14V489000 · Structure

Aug 8, 2014

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala vehicles manufactured May 7, 2014, to July 28, 2014. In the event of an accident, the center storage console may not stay latched. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 201, "Occupant Protection In Interior Impact."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: The storage compartment door may not remain closed in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of occupant injury.

Remedy: Parts to remedy this condition are not currently available. GM will send owners an interim notification in early October 2014, and will send a second letter when parts are available. At that time dealers will inspect, and if necessary, replace the console storage compartment door inertia latch, free of charge. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 14476.
