TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE SWITCH THAT CONTROLLED THE CONVERTIBLE TOP DID MORE THAN MAKE THE TOP GO UP OR DOWN. THE COMPUTER ALSO TURNED THE HEATER ON OR OFF AT RANDOM, EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF, WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. I HAVE ABOUT 500 MILES ON MY 2017 C7 CORVETTE AND OBVIOUSLY NEVER DROVE IT IN THE WINTER, ALWAYS GARAGED AND JUST TOOK IT OUT A VERY FEW TIMES OVER THE PAST 2 WEEKS DURING NICE WEATHER. I WAS GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICED THAT THE CORVETTE WAS GETTING REALLY HOT, THAN ABOUT 5 MIN LATER ONSTAR REPORTED A ENGINE, TRANS, AND REAR END PROBLEM ALONG WITH A LOUD CLANKING NOISE FROM THE MOTOR. NOW IT ONLY DOES ABOUT 65 THANK IT GOES TO 5K RPMS AND GOES NOWHERE.

Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A loss of power steering assist can require greater steering effort, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the power steering gear assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 15, 2025. Owners may contact Cadilac customer service at 1-800-333-4223 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N252497020.
