I HAVE ABOUT 500 MILES ON MY 2017 C7 CORVETTE AND OBVIOUSLY NEVER DROVE IT IN THE WINTER, ALWAYS GARAGED AND JUST TOOK IT OUT A VERY FEW TIMES OVER THE PAST 2 WEEKS DURING NICE WEATHER. I OPENED THE HOOD FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME AND SHOWED A FRIEND OF MINE THE ENGINE, HE WAS A MECHANIC FOR YEARS, AND WE BOTH IMMEDIATELY SEEN THE MANIFOLDS WERE RUSTY. THIS IS HORRIBLE THAT GM WOULD RELEASE A NEARLY $60,000 VEHICLE WITH SUCH A FLAW AND POSSIBLY NEAR FUTURE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE PROBLEMS BECAUSE OF IT!??????? PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED PHOTOS AND ADVISE ME IF YOU CAN PLEASE HAVE THESE MANIFOLD HEADERS REPLACED WITH ONES WHICH WON'T RUST HORRIFICALLY SUCH AS STAINLESS STEEL OR SIMILAR? I WAS GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICED THAT THE CORVETTE WAS GETTING REALLY HOT, THAN ABOUT 5 MIN LATER ONSTAR REPORTED A ENGINE, TRANS, AND REAR END PROBLEM ALONG WITH A LOUD CLANKING NOISE FROM THE MOTOR. NOW IT ONLY DOES ABOUT 65 THANK IT GOES TO 5K RPMS AND GOES NOWHERE.

Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A loss of power steering assist can require greater steering effort, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the power steering gear assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 15, 2025. Owners may contact Cadilac customer service at 1-800-333-4223 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N252497020.

While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.
