At the same time, the engine shut down and all of the lights on the dash went out. I stopped the vehicle, put it in park and restarted the vehicle. Everything then worked as if nothing was wrong. There are not any warning lights. It was as if someone simply turned off the ignition for a minute.

Truck worked perfectly fine, then it was parked for a week because I had to have emergency eye surgery. After a week, started truck. Truck started spewing errors U0121 and U0131. Managed to get it to dealership with no steering and am told it is a power steering module failure and the cost to fix is $1800. The truck is barely out of warranty and I have seen numerous posts on forums across the Internet of others that have also experienced problems with their 2019 Colorados and the recalls on the 2015s for the same issue. - Component: Power Steering Module - Safety: Absolutely no power steering, extremely difficult to almost impossible to steer. - Reproduction: Yes, truck is at dealership. Confirmed errors and confirmed power steering module needs to be replaced. - Warnings: No warnings prior to truck being parked for a week. As soon as truck was started, received warnings and no power steering or traction control. Absolutely no symptoms prior.

I CAME UP TO A TWO LANE CITY STREET, FOUR WAY STOP INTERSECTION AND STOPPED. I TURNED MY STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT (IN ORDER TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN) AND STEPPED ON THE GAS. THE VEHICLE TURNED TO THE LEFT, OUT INTO THE INTERSECTION, INSTEAD OF RIGHT. THE STEERING STAYED LOCKED TO THE LEFT AND WOULD NOT TURN IN IN EITHER DIRECTION. I HAD JUST CAME OFF THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. HAD THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. THE DEALER SAID, THERE WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE IN THE STEERING MOTOR. I UNDERSTAND THAT PARTS CAN FAIL, BUT THE FACT THAT THERE WAS NO FAIL SAFE MODE, IS DISCONCERTING. I LOST ALL CONTROL OF MY STEERING. I HATE TO THINK OF WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I WAS AT SPEED INSTEAD OF STOPPED.
STEERING STARTED MAKING A "RATTLING" NOISE AND FINALLY LOCKED UP SO IT COULD NOT BE TURNED TO THE RIGHT. BECAUSE OF THE RATTLING NOISE, I DROVE TO A NEARBY CHEVROLET DEALER (AUTO NATION, GILBERT, AZ) AND THEN AS I WAS WORKING WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER, THE STEERING LOCKED UP. *TR
