The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500 hauling a 2023 Carry-On Trailer. The contact stated that while driving 30-35 MPH and exiting the highway, the contact looked back and noticed that the trailer was swerving. The contact slowed down and the trailer detached from the hitch and ball. The trailer crashed into an embankment and came to a stop. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the chains on the trailer had fractured, but the safety latch and pin remained locked. The Police arrived at the scene, but no Police report was filed. The trailer was towed to an independent mechanic, who replaced the trailer ramp, pins, and chains. The spare tire holder also were re-leveled. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
