Vehicle primarily failed while parked at owner residence [XXX] and remained inoperable for approximately three weeks prior to tow to Cadillac dealership. The ignition key became trapped and could not be removed. A manual override release beneath the driver-side steering column was required to free the key — confirming the lock was held electronically, not mechanically jammed. Fault confirmed by authorized Cadillac dealer: intermittent electrical fault within the shifter assembly lock mechanism. A similar intermittent concern was previously documented on this vehicle in 2011 (logged as "Customer Concern Not Duplicated"), establishing a recurring pattern. GM Technical Service Bulletin 07-07-30-032D (2006–2011 Cadillac CTS, automatic transmission) explicitly documents this exact condition: key sticking, Shift to Park DIC message, shifter binding, and battery drain. OEM replacement part is now discontinued. Manufacturer declined goodwill or recall coverage. Dealer refuses repair unless owner assumes full financial responsibility for a used part with no warranty and no guarantee against recurrence. Safety concern: ignition/shift interlock failure causing vehicle immobilization, key entrapment, and loss of transportation for an elderly owner dependent on the vehicle for medical care. Defect evades shop diagnosis due to intermittency. No safe OEM remedy exists. Prior recall: NHTSA 14V394000 / GM Campaign 14172 addressed same interlock system. Current failure represents recurrence beyond that recall's scope. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

THE SELLER LIED ABOUT EVERYTHING! THE FIRST QUESTION I ASKED WAS IF THE CAR WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. HE BRAGGED ABOUT BEING A MECHANIC, AND DOING ALL THE WORK ON THE CAR, SO EVERYTHING IN THE CAR IS IN, "TIP TOP SHAPE." HE REPLIED, "NO, NEVER!" HE DID NOT ALLOW US TO RIDE THE CAR ON THE INTERSTATE BEFORE THE PURCHASE, CLAIMING IT WAS ILLEGAL. 10 MINS AFTER LEAVING THE CAR LOT, THE CAR CUTS OFF AND IS UNABLE TO CRANK BACK UP. THE SELLER MEETS US AND CLAIMS IT THE BATTERY. A "NEW" BATTERY WAS PLACED IN THE VEHICLE, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. MY FIANC, WHO IS NOT A MECHANIC, TOLD HIM MORE THAN ONCE, THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT THE BATTERY, BUT THE ALTERNATOR. HE GOT THE CAR TO CRANK. AS WE ARE RIDING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, THE CAR CUTS OFF, AND WE ARE LEFT AIMLESSLY ROLLING AND ARE UNABLE TO CONTROL THE WHEEL. PLUS, THE ELECTRICITY IN THE CAR IS OFF SO WE CAN'T EVEN TURN ON OUR HAZARD LIGHTS TO CAUTION THE OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD. AFTER SPEAKING TO THE SELLER, ONCE AGAIN, HE TELLS US THERE IS NOTHING HE CAN DO ABOUT IT AND WILL NOT CANCEL THE DEAL. WE'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 4-5 HOURS. AFTER SPEAKING TO SEVERAL MECHANICS, THEY QUICKLY CONFIRM THAT THE ALTERNATOR IS THE PROBLEM AND ANYBODY THAT CLAIMS TO BE A MECHANIC CAN SEE THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY. THEY ALSO INFORM US THE CAR HAS BEEN WRECKED AND SHOULD HAVE NOT BEEN RESOLD FOR SAFETY MEASURES. DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ALMOST COST US OUR LIVES.

THE ENGINE LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHTS ARE LIT UP ON THE DASH. THERE IS A COUPLE OF RECALLS LISTED FOR THE SAME EXACT YEAR MAKE AND MODEL BUT IT SAYS THAT THIS VIN NUMBER IS NOT UNDER RECALL. I THINK THAT THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE INSPECTED TO SEE IF IT ACTUALLY DOES NEED TO BE LISTED UNDER THOSE RECALLS. IT IS NOT JUST THIS ONE SPECIFIC VIN NUMBER HAVING THESE ISSUES EITHER. I HAVE TALKED TO QUITE A FEW CADILLAC OWNERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND THEIR VEHICLES ARE NOT LISTED UNDER THOSE RECALLS EITHER. IF YOU TURN ON THE CAR YOU PUT IT INTO DRIVE THE CAR REMAINS STUCK IN 3RD GEAR AND WILL NOT SHIFT THROUGH THE GEARS PROPERLY.

ON THAT DATE THERE WERE SOME PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE WIRING ON THE ABS AND EBTM AND I DENIED THE SERVICE TO BE DONE THERE BECAUSE I WAS QUOTED A COST OF OVER 2,500 DOLLARS AND I WAS INFORMED THAT IT MIGHT ESCALATE TO 3500 IF AN ABS PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALSO. I LATER HAD THE WORK DONE AT YOUNG'S LOCATED IN WOODLAWN FOR A LOT LESS. I NOW PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER TRAIN AND THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM AND HAVE THE AUTO IN GREGG'S REPAIR , 5050 WABASH AVE. I ALSO SAW ON LINE THAT THE ON STAR OPERATION IS ABLE TO RELEASE THE ANTI THEFT MODE. I HAVE BEEN QUOTED A PRICE OF 886 DOLLARS PLUS CHANGE BY GREGG'S CADILLAC . I AM ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, BUT IN ORDER TO GET THE KEY OUT, THE BATTERY HAS TO BE DISCONNECTED. I AM PERPLEXED THAT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT THE RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. WITH ALL OF THE NOTED PROBLEMS I WAS IN MOTION. I WAS STOPPED BY THE POLICE FOR THE BRAKE LIGHT IN THE CITY AND I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE ANTI THEFT MODE WENT INTO OPERATION.

ON WAY HOME FROM WORK THE FOLLOWING DAY ON I75 DRIVING 70MPH WHICH IS THE SPEED LIMIT, THE CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD CLUNKING SOUND AND WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. NEARLY HAD ACCIDENT WHILE TRYING TO GET TO SHOULDER OF ROAD. WAS INFORMED BY MECHANIC THAT "THE REAR END WENT OUT OF YOUR CAR BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T HAVE ANY DIFFERENTIAL FLUID LEFT IN IT" WHEN I ASKED HOW THAT COULD HAPPEN THE MECHANIC SAID THERE MUST HAVE BEEN A LEAK OF SOME KIND. STARTED RESEARCHING AND FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CAR 4 YEARS BEFORE I PURCHASED IT. WHEN I CALLED GM AT 800-458-8006 I WAS TOLD BY AUTOMATED PHONE SYSTEM THERE IS AN OPEN RECALL ON MY VEHICLE #07204E AND 10355C SO ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A REPRESENTATIVE AND THE LADY FROM MANILLA IN THE PHILIPPINES (BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE THEIR CUSTOMER CARE CENTER IS???) INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS "NO OPEN RECALL ON YOUR CAR" EVEN AFTER I TRIED TO EXPLAIN THE AUTOMATED SERVICE HAD JUST GIVEN ME 2 OPEN RECALL NUMBERS FOR MY VIN # ...SHE SAID SHE COULDN'T HELP ME FIND SERVICE FOR MY CAR.

14V542000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:delivery:fuel Pump

Sep 9, 2014

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V vehicles manufactured October 6, 2003, to March 15, 2007, and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V vehicles manufactured June 23, 2005, to March 15, 2007. In the affected vehicles, the electrical terminals of the fuel pump module may overheat resulting in the melting of the flange material.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the flange melts, a hole may be created allowing the fuel pump to leak fuel, causing the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, leaking fuel in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, free of charge. GM sent out interim notices in late October. The recall began on March 12, 2015. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 14405.

Jul 2, 2014

This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) notified the agency on July 2, 2014 that they are recalling 554,328 model year 2003-2014 Cadillac CTS vehicles manufactured August 16, 2001, to April 28, 2014, and 2004-2006 Cadillac SRX vehicles manufactured March 20, 2003, to August 11, 2006. In these models, the weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on September 15, 2014. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 14172.

EQ11001 · Iee Passenger Sensing System Mats

Opened Feb 7, 2011 · Closed Jul 19, 2011

Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Air Bags:frontal:sensor/control MODULE-INACTIVE

On December 17, 2010, General Motors (GM) notified the NHTSA that it had decided certain 2005 - 2007 model year Cadillac CTS vehicles contain a safety related defect.GM stated that certain CTS vehicles contain a passenger sensing system mat, manufactured by IEE, in the front passenger seat that may flex causing the mat to kink, bend or fold.If this flexing causes the connections in the mat to break, the passenger airbag could become disabled.Non-deployment of the front passenger air bag in the event of a crash necessitating that air bag's deployment may reduce protection of the passenger and increase the risk or severity of injury to them. This issue was assigned recall number 10V-644.On February 8, 2011, RMD mailed an information request (IR) letter to IEE requesting a list of purchasers for any company that was sold the same or similar defective mats.RMD also requested IEE supply the year, make and models of compatible vehicles for each of the mats it listed in its response.IEE responded on February 15, 2011, reporting that the mats recalled in GM recall 10V-644 were developed specifically for the 2005-2007 Cadillac CTS.IEE noted that, ...the CTS Sensor Mat is not the same or similar to any other sensor mat manufactured by IEE.IEE further explained that the sensor mats were sold to Lear Corp. (Lear), for incorporation into seat assemblies, with the seat assemblies finally being sold to GM.Also, some sensor mats were sold to Integrated Manufacturing and Assembly, LLC (IMA) who would then re-sell the mats to GM to use as service parts.Ultimately, these parts were all sold to GM for use in the 2005-2007 Cadillac CTS vehicles.According to its 10V-644 Defect Report, GM reported that some vehicles outside the recall population have ...significantly lower incident rates and will be provided a special coverage. This special coverage includes a free repair should the same issue occur to non-recalled 2005-2007 Cadillac CTS vehicles up to 10 years or 120,000 miles. On April 7, 2011, RMD mailed an IR letter to GM to gather more information on GM's decision to only recall a portion of the vehicles that contained the subject IEE mats.RMD also requested that GM provide updated to current warranty claims, field reports, and other field information for CTS vehicles both recalled and those under the special coverage. On May 19, 2011, GM responded with a letter and several CD attachments that were submitted to NHTSA's Office of the Chief Counsel along with a request for confidentiality.GM confirmed that the IEE mats recalled in 10V-644 were only used in the 2005-2007 Cadillac CTS.GM also explained its reasoning in only recalling a portion of the CTS vehicles containing IEE mats.Due to various production phases, error detections, and false corrections, certain vehicles were more prone to mat failures than other vehicles.GM identified 4 distinct seat assembly production periods and chose to recall CTS vehicles depending on which seat assembly each vehicle received.Examining the data submitted in regards to warranty claims, field reports, and incidents, the CTS vehicles that were included in the safety recall were responsible for about 80% of the overall claims.CTS vehicles included in the special coverage (essentially an extended warranty), those with seat assemblies from other identified production phases, were responsible for about 20% of the overall claims. As GM has provided clear data to support its recall decision and since no other manufacturer has installed these same or similar passenger sensing system mats / seat assemblies in their vehicles, this Equipment Query is satisfied. This EQ is cl
