TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL FLYING SPUR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN HE NOTICED THE FRONT HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COLLAPSED AND THE VEHICLE WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED, BUT IT WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

08V217000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:fuel Injection System

May 15, 2008

BENTLEY IS RECALLING 13,420 MY 2004-2008 CONTINENTAL GT, CONTINENTAL GT SPEED, CONTINENTAL FLYING SPUR, AND CONTINENTAL GTC VEHICLES. THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR ROAD SALT TO CORRODE THE OUTER SURFACE OF THE FUEL FILTER. THIS COULD LEAD TO THE FILTER HOUSING BECOMING POROUS WITH A CORRESPONDING FUEL LEAK.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A FUEL LEAK IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER AND REPOSITION THE RETAINING CLIP ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 18, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BENTLEY AT 1-800-777-6923.

BENTLEY IS RECALLING 4 MY 2004 AND 2006 CONTINENTAL GT AND CONTINENTAL FLYING SPUR VEHICLES. THE REPLACEMENT AIR BAG TRIMMED COVERS HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED WITH TETHERS OF AN INCORRECT LENGTH.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THIS COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE AIR BAG ITSELF DURING DEPLOYMENT INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURIES.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PASSENGER'S AIR BAG COVER FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 11, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BENTLEY AT 1-800-777-6923.
