DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL #05V506000, CONCERNING THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE INFORMATION CONCERNING THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER BASED THIS CONCLUSION ON THE CAMPAIGN NUMBER NOT THE VIN.

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FUEL LINE QUICK CONNECTORS MAY BREAK IF CARE IS NOT USED WHEN REMOVING THE FUEL TANK AT THE TIME OF SERVICE.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN FUEL LEAKAGE. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE QUICK CONNECTORS ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. THE RECALL BEGAN IN SEPTEMBER 2006. OWNERS WHO HAVE NOT HAD THEIR MOTORCYCLE REPAIRED WILL BE RENOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL DURING AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT APRILIA AT 770-592-2261.
