WHILE RIDING MY 2005 PHANTOM CHOPPER ON THE HIGHWAY, THE DOWN TUBE CRACKED. NOT THE WELDS. THE FRAME. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE BIKE. AFTER CONTACTING MANUFACTURE I SENT HIM PICTURES. HE BASICALLY TOLD ME ITS NOT HIS PROBLEM. I HAD THE BIKE TOWED TO A REPUTABLE SHOP AND THEY SAID THE DOWN TUBE SHOULD BE THICKER WITH LARGER GUSSETING OR SUPPORT RODS BECAUSE OF THE RAKE OF THE CHASSIS. IF FRAME CRACKED ALL THE WAY THE FRONT FORKS WOULD HAVE RIPPED MY HEAD OFF. THE BIKE IS NOT LISTED IN YOUR SELECTION. IT'S A 2005 PHANTOM CHOPPER. MODEL DEVASTATOR 300. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT HE DESIGNED IT AND HE WAS WARNED THAT IT WOULD PROBABLY BREAK. *TR

ON ONE MOTORCYCLE, THE FACTORY-INSTALLED WELDED GUSSET PLATE CONNECTING THE FRAME BACKBONE, NECK, AND DOWN TUBE IS MISSING.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: AS A RESULT, ADDITIONAL STRESS WOULD BE PLACED ON THE WELDS CAUSING RAPID WEAR AND POSSIBLE JOINT SEPARATION. FRAME SEPARATION OF THE NECK, DOWN TUBE, AND BACKBONE JOINTS COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO LOSE STEERING AND CONTROL OF THE BIKE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A CRASH.

Remedy: THE OWNER HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND HIS MOTORCYCLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED.
