COMPLAINED TO YAMAHA DEALER OF WHINE/HOWL ON MY 2005 ROYAL STAR VENTURE. KEPT FOR 52 DAYS OUT-OF-SERVICE, WHEN RETURNED DISCOVERED THAT THE FINAL DRIVE HAD LOST ALMOST ALL ITS FLUID, COULD HAVE CAUSED CATASTROPHIC FAILURE, INJURY/DEATH. DEALER PRUDENTLY REMOVED WHINE/HOWL FROM MY SIGNED WORK ORDER !*JB

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES AND SCOOTERS, THE REAR BRAKE SHOE MATERIAL COULD SEPARATE DUE TO IMPROPER ADHESIVE CURING.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IF SUCH SEPARATION OCCURS DURING OPERATION, BRAKING ABILITY WITH THE REAR WHEEL WILL BE REDUCED OR LOST, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE REAR BRAKE SHOES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 8, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT YAMAHA AT 1-800-889-2624.
