2022 Winnebago Ekko

I am the owner of a 2022 Winnebago Ekko. My vehicle is subject to NHTSA Recall 24V-024 (Winnebago Campaign #181) regarding the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) system. I am writing to request your guidance on how to proceed, as I am currently unable to obtain the required safety remedy. My local authorized dealer, has declined to open a repair order, stating that their internal system marks the recall as 'closed' due to a previous service campaign (74-05). Despite providing them with the official NHTSA Dealer Notification for Campaign #181, which clearly states this recall supersedes the previous campaign and must be performed regardless of ownership, they have refused to diagnose the system. Could you please provide guidance on the appropriate next steps to ensure this safety mandate is honored, or advise if there is an escalation process I should follow with the manufacturer to resolve this impasse? I am concerned about the safety risk of operating a vehicle with a known, failing BSM system and would appreciate your assistance in rectifying this." I took the vehicle on vacation last week. My wife drove while I navigated. The BSM worked well. After we arrived and were driving in heavy traffic we noticed the BSM wasn't indicating when lane changes were unsafe. Ive read on user forums that rain has affected their BSM units. I contacted Winnebago Customer Care prior to this, who wrote "From: Winnebago Motorhome Customer Care <[XXX]> Date: Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 9:46 AM To: Redacted Subject: Case:[XXX] Blind Spot Assist issue with Winnebago Ekko Hello, All recalls are complete for this coach. If the owner is experiencing issues it must be brought back to the repair dealer to diagnose the issue. Any warranty is given from the repairing dealer. As the dealer that performed the work is in Indiana & I am in Arkansas. It would be very inconvenient although If necessary I would try that too. Lack of a functioning blind spot monitoring (BSM) system nearly resulted in a rollover crash at freeway speed. At night, attempting to change lanes to the right, the driver was surprised by a car passing on the right. Driver's evasive action was too extreme resulting in violently veering across the freeway several times before control was regained. The BSM system on this RV did not work upon on delivery when new. This is a widespread problem with Winnebago EKKOs. Three repair attempts by the dealer have failed to fix the system on our EKKO. The original manufacturer Winnebago has refused to supply the dealer with a complete replacement system, requiring us to make repeated service appointments. Each repair attempt halted after a new part was installed leading to the discovery of yet another failed component and more time without a functioning BSM. We have not had a functioning BSM for 14 months.

the blind spot monitoring system has never worked correctly. Originally when a vehicle appeared in the left hand (driver side) blind spot, the right hand warning light (indicating vehicle in passenger side blind spot) would illuminate - then vice versa. A vehicle in the passenger side blind spot would result in the driver side warning light illuminating. This would cause the driver to think that there was a vehicle in a blind spot on the wrong side of the vehicle. if acted on the driver could maneuver in a way that would cause rather than avoid an accident. The dealer from whom I bought the vehicle (National Indoor RV Center of Lawrenceville GA) has tried twice without success to rectify the issue. The last time the unit stopped working completely (which is better than it working in reverse) On the owners facebook group failures of the blind spot monitoring system are a common occurence, as such I believe NHTSA should be informed. For me personally no actual accident occurred although shortly after taking delivery of the vehicle I did have a near miss.

The Blind Spot Warning system on my 2022 Winnebago Ekko has completely failed two times. Both failures occurred after driving in wet weather. The system components appear susceptible to shorting out when exposed to water. Anecdotal evidence via social media posts from other Ekko Owners suggest this is a very common issue on Winnebago Ekkos.

Winnebago factory installed Blind Spot Monitor System did not work since purchase, after local dealers failure to repair this and other defects, out of frustration we drove it 3000+ miles to the WGO factory repair center located in Forest City, IA. BSM was repair by WGO on invoice #02942R dated 3-13-23 under warranty. BSM module was replaced, 2A protective fuse installed and wiring connections corrected. 10 days later during return trip home BSM failed while driving in heavy snow. Contacted WGO factory service supervisor with failure details and was told we could either bring it back or take it to the local dealer again. Local dealer repaired per their repair order Doc #190571 dated 6-23-23. After being advised it was repaired we picked it up and it did not work from dealers lot. Emailed WGO supervisor, dealer service manager & service advisor. Local dealer has not responded as of 7-5-23, 10 days later. WGO supervisor responded to take it back and have the dealer work with our tech department. I had previously given the dealer all of the factory contact info I have and they are in-fact a WGO Flying W certified repair facility. This is a safety issue and a defective factory installed accessory that continues to be an unresolved issue. In researching I found on Facebook under the group- Winnebago Owners & Wannabes a 5-19-2022 BSM failure survey in which 105 owners responded the following- 30% No Problems, 29% Stopped working after driving on wet roads, 7% Stopped working after driving in snow/salt, 24% Never worked, 1% disconnected because of annoyance, 9% Combined, stopped working after other or works intermittently. I did not respond but would have been in the Never has worked section. This and all the online chatter would seem to indicate a high rate of units either not working at delivery or failing sometime after deliver. This is a Voyager System integrated into a Ford Transit chassis by Winnebago. I would like to see these systems correctly repaired

The blind spot monitors on the Ekko suddenly failed. The system provides no warning, any longer, of approaching, or passing vehicles. I belong to an Ekko users group and have found from other owners that this is a common problem with these vehicles. The BSM's suddenly cease to operate and continue to break down, even after being "fixed" by dealers.
