It is my understanding there have been reports of issues with the rear brakes on the 2022 Volkswagen Taos. Some owners have complained about excessive brake noise, premature wear, and in some cases, problems with the electronic parking brake. These issues have led to concerns about the reliability and safety of the braking system in the Taos. It’s also my understanding Volkswagen has acknowledged some of these problems and has issued technical service bulletins (TSBs) to address complaints. I am experiencing rear brake issues on my 2022 Taos' rear brakes as stated above. I have not been issued a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) nor has Volkswagon Corporate USA issued any recalls. My car has 18,000 miles and is scheduled to go in for service this Wednesday. When I called my dealership’s service department, the service manager stated he was aware of premature rear brake wear on the 2022 Taos. I find it hard to believe Volkswagon Corporate doesn’t know about this problem however the service manager does. An internet inquiry will prove TSB’s have been issued. One source is ChatGBT among other sources. I fully expect this to be covered under warranty and if it not, I would like to know how I can contact someone directly at the NHTSA if possible.

I’ve been a VW owner since 2005 and this vehicle has given me more problems then any VW I’ve ever owned

Lane assist keeps failing sporadically, Dealer unable to duplicate concern. Have pictures of failure messages. Autonomous Emergency braking failed and went off without any notice or problem to create them to go off. Have video of event where ABS goes off for no reason. This is very dangerous situation since brakes going off to stop car that shouldn't be happening. This happened at low speed what would happen if this went off at high rate of speed? Forward collision warning has gone off before for no reason with auditable alert and image on dash, but no braking. VW was able to pull event from car to determine what happened. So this is not a matter that it didnt happen but wasn't duplicated. Plus Video corresponds to event report in car systems. VW's problem is that they don't rely on customer complaints but dealers who don't report issues. If they can't duplicate problem then problem doesn't exist. Unfortunately for VW all incidents were capture with photo's and Video!! This car and all other models should be stopped from being sold. I will contact other federal agencies since it seems to be a known problem that they get away with. Video can be produced if NHTSA wants video.

I have to completely stop turn it off in the middle of the road and then it will start going. I called vw and they told me that they didn’t know what it could be. Maybe water got in a sensor. This issue has happened twice and it’s scary. Third issue my automatic braking will just brake when no one is in front of me almost causing someone to hit me from behind.

My car has been leaking cooling into the head gasket for 4 months. I have been waiting a month for parts and no update. My passengers and my safety was at risk when my car stalled out on a busy road. The problem has been inspected by the Volkswagen dealership. I found out there was a problem when my engine coolant light came on after less than one month of owning the vehicle. My front collision warning does not work correctly. It alerts me when there is vehicle in front of me or when there is a fork in the road. My car was on cruise control and came close to a vehicle and no notification or alert notified me and I have the feature set to alert me "early" to avoid collision.

My car has lagged two different times and would not accelerate causing me to get off the road and turn the car off. The two occurances were about 6-8 months apart from eachother. The engine recorded multiple misfires and the second time it happened I was able to get a video of it. The dealership said that I ran out of gas the first time, even though I had a quarter of a tank and said that it went into lower power mode. The second time it happened they didn't know what was wrong with it because they couldn't reproduce the problem. I have also had problems with the sudden collision light coming on even though there is nothing in front of me. At times the car breaks on its own if I'm using the cruise control, making sudden stops. I have told the dealership this problem as well, but they didn't know what to do because they couldn't reproduce the problem. The final problem I'm having is with the brakes. My car has about 33, 000 miles on it and I had it in for service early February for an oil change. When it was in they said I needed new tires, but said nothing about my rear brakes needing to be changed. I then took my car in to get new tires about a month later and the company said that my rear brakes were going to need to be replaced soon. After traveling just under 800 miles, my brakes started to grind and were showing that they needed to immediately be changed. My front brakes are like brand new brakes. Multiple mechanics have expressed that my brakes shouldn't have worn so quickly and that if anything it should be the front brakes, not the back. I recently called VW to ask if there was a problem with the brakes and they said no. However, after investigating more online, I found that it is a problem in other Taos vehicles.

I was driving down the interstate on 6/24/2022 with ACC turned on and was in traffic. The semi truck in front of me came to a complete stop, but my VW Taos did not stop or slow down, so I had to intervene in order to prevent an accident. After I came to a complete stop, my vehicle started beeping, flashing errors on the dashboard for every safety system on my car including the Airbags, Traction Control, Anti-lock Brakes, all Safety Sensors, Cruise Control, and something called Brake Booster. It stayed like this for about 10 minutes. After moving more, traffic came to a complete stop again, so I took the opportunity to turn my car off and restart it, and the warnings came up again. After 5-10 more minutes, the errors finally cleared off my dashboard. This made me very concerned that I would not be protected if I were in an accident. This is the third time my vehicle has done this since owning it.
