TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 UM MATRIX 2 150 (NA) SCOOTER. THE SCOOTER HAS A DEFECTIVE FRONT DISK SYSTEM, WHICH WAS ADVERTISED AS AN ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 UM MATRIX 2 150 (NA) SCOOTER. THE SCOOTER HAS A DEFECTIVE FRONT DISK SYSTEM, WHICH WAS ADVERTISED AS AN ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. WHILE DRIVING 40-45 MPH ON WET PAVEMENT, THE SCOOTER SLIPPED OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE CONTACT WHEN THE FRONT BRAKES WERE ACTIVATED. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO STOP, THE SCOOTER JERKED TO ONE SIDE, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SAFELY STOP. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND HAD THE FRONT DISC ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM REMOVED. SINCE THAT TIME, THE SCOOTER HAS BEEN STOPPING SAFELY AND ACCURATELY. THE VIN WAS VERIFIED, BUT APPEARS TO BE INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 254.

THIS PE WAS OPENED AFTER IDENTICAL MOTORCYCLES IMPORTED BY HYOSUNG MOTORS AMERICA, INC. WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE (07V-071).SUBSEQUENTLY, THE SECOND IMPORTER (UNITED MOTORS OF AMERICA, INC. (UM)) DECIDED TO RECALL THE MOTORCYCLES AS WELL.THIS DECISION WAS MADE BEFORE, AND IN LIEU OF, UM'SIR RESPONSE.WITH THAT RECALL DECISION, THIS PE IS CLOSED.
