TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TRIUMPH TIGER MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, FUEL SPEWED PROFUSELY FROM THE FUEL LINES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 04V156000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. 04V156000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:delivery:hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FUEL CONNECTOR LINKING EACH OF THE FEED AND RETURN FUEL HOSES TO THE FUEL PUMP MOUNTING PLATE MAY FRACTURE FOLLOWING IN-SERVICE HANDLING.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: FUEL COULD ESCAPE FROM THE FRACTURED BODY OF THE CONNECTOR ONTO THE ENGINE OR SIDE OF THE BIKE. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, CAN RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CONNECTOR. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 30, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT TRIUMPH AT 1-678-854-2010.
